HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-05-18r' Minutes of Regular Meeting Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside, Missouri May 18,1999 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on May 18,1999 at 7:30 p.m. Those in attendance were: Mayor Ed Rule, Aldermen Ron Super, Brenda Teters, Pamela Darata, Betty Burch, Ray Beard and George Flaws. Also present were Ann Daniels, City Administrator and Louise Rusick, City Clerk. Minutes, May 4,1999 Alderman Burch moved that the minutes of May 4,1999 be Approved. approved, seconded by Alderman Teters, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Beard, Burch, Teters, Flaws, Super and Darata. Motion Carried. Ann Daniels City Administrator, Ann Daniels reported all easements received Reports. have been recorded and several are still outstanding on NW Strathbury and St. Joe Blvd. Ann stated the pool would be open special summer hours, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. the first week, starting May 31st until the kids are out of school Comments from the Public: Betty Johnson Betty Johnson, 5112 NW High Dr., Riverside, Mo. asked the board if the fireworks ordinance being amended was a way of getting rid of all fireworks licensees. The board explained it waa nol; the amendment meant only new licensees are required to have hard surface pavement. Wayne Snyder Wayne Snyder, 4909 NW Merrimac, Riverside, Mo. is the new and Bill Bright chairman of the Park Board. Mr. Snyder would like to meet with the Board of Aldermen on general topics and get the board's opinion on park matters so everyone is in agreement. Mr. Snyder and Mr. Bright will be at the board's June 22nd budget meeting. Recommendation Alderman Burch moved that the Community Center be open an to open Community Center additional day, Tuesday, starting June 1st and the new hours set for additional day, Tuesday usage from 4p.m. to 9 p.m., no age limits in place, seconded by & new hours. Bill No. 99-37 Alderman Beard moved to place Bill No. 99-37 on its first reading, Payment of Bills. said Bill provides for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein, with the exception of Barsto Construction, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Super, Darata, Beard, Burch, Teters and Flaws. Motion Carried. Ordinance No. 99-37 Alderman Burch moved to place Bill No. 99-37 on its second reading, Approved. and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 99-37, seconded by Alderman Darata the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Beard, Burch, Teters, Flaws and Super. Motion Carried. Bill No. 99-38 Alderman Burch moved to place Bill No. 99-38 on its first reading, Authorization to said Bill authorizes the Mayor to enter into a contract with Banderas enter into a contract Construction to construct street improvements on NW 52"d Street with Banderas Const. and setting a fee for same, accepted by sealed bid at $380,743.71 to construct street be $380,743.71, seconded by Alderman Flaws, the vote was: improvements in the amount of $380,743.71. Motion Carried. Bill No. 99-40 Bill No. 99-40 amending Section 605320 of the City code "Sale of Amending Sec. 605.320 fireworks and fireworks occupational license" to remove "chat of the city code "Sale of gravel" from approved parking surface and in Q. Off street fireworks and Fu•eworks parking will be revised and presented at the neat board meeting. Occ. License: to remove "chat gravel" from approved parking surface in Q.Off-Street parking to be revised. Bill No. 99-41 Alderman Burch moved to place Bill No. 99-41 on its first reading, Ratifying the acceptance of said Bill provides for the acceptance of bids on $2, 979, 956.57, bids on $2,979,956.57. seconded by Alderman Beard, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Beard, Burch, Teters, Flaws, Super and Darata. Bill No. 99-43 Amending Sec. 110.150 Regular meeting times of Board of Aldermen & Planning Comm. -Notice for special meetings of said board & commission of the city code by deleting a specific portion of the current code. Motion Carved. Alderman Flaws moved to place Bill No. 99-43 on its first reading, said Bill provides for amending Section 110.150 regular meeting times of Board of Aldermen and Planning Commission-Notice for Special Meetings of said board and commission of the city code by deleting a specific portion of the current code, seconded by Alderman Beard, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Super, Darata, Beard, Burch, Teters and Flaws. Motion Carried. Ordinance No. 99-43 Alderman Darata moved to place Bill No. 99-43 on its second Approved. reading, and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 99-43, seconded by Alderman Teters, the vote was: Aye: Aldermen Darata, Beard, Burch, Teters, Flaws and Super.
