R-2025-086 A RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDER 1 TO THE AGREEMENT WITH JULIUS KAAZ CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. FOR VIVION RD TRAIL SEGMENT 1 RESULTING IN A REVISED CONTRACT AMOUNT OF $1,231,834.00 FOR SUCH PURPOSES WHEREAS, the City of Riverside ("City") issued an Invitation to Bid for the Vivion Rd Trail Segment 1 (Project No. TAP 3454[401]) ("Project") which was awarded to Julius Kaa7 Construction Company, Inc. ("Julius Kaa7") pursuant to Resolution R-2025-003; and WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen finds that it is in the best interest of the City to approve Change Order 1 to the agreement with Julius Kaa7, resulting in a total revised contract amount not to exceed $1,231,834.00. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI,AS FOLLOWS: THAT Change Order 1 to the Agreement between the City and Julius Kaa7, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is approved and the Mayor is authorized to execute the same on behalf of the City. The resulting revised total contract amount shall not exceed $1,231,834.00. FURTHER THAT the Mayor, City Administrator and all other required city officials are authorized to take such other actions and/or execute and deliver for and on behalf of the City all certificates, instruments, agreements and other documents as may be deemed necessary or convenient to carry out and comply with the intent of this Resolution. Included are the following items: Item 18: It was determined that formliner is not needed for the large wall as it faces away from the road to an undeveloped area that will be hidden by riparian vegetation. Item 27: The engineering drawings anticipated that only the landscape around the monument sign would need to be adjusted. However,the grade between the trail and monument sign will be too steep without a retaining wall. This item was deleted to add line item 42. Item 41: The Evergy light pole needs to be moved, and additional staking is required to help Evergy determine the best location for this pole. This pole is at approximate station 26+76.53. Item 42: Upon grading for the trail, it was discovered that the grade between the trail and the monument sign will be too steep. A modular block wall is the recommended, cost-effective solution to preserve the existing monument sign and transition the grade from the sign to the trail. The wall will need to be placed from approximate station 32+75 to 33+40. While performing excavation for the concrete trail, it became evident that something would have to be done to preserve the monument sign and landscaping due to the short distance and difference in elevation between the trail and monument sign. To fix this issue,The City of Riverside has requested a proposal for a retaining wall in front of Six Zero Inc Property. Vivion Rd Trail Segment I (Project No. TAP 3454[401]) BACKGROUND: Formliner in not needed for the retaining wall at the culvert because this wall will faces away from development and will be screened by riparian vegetation. Removing the formliner is a deduct. The engineering drawings anticipated an adjustment to the landscape around a business monument sign. More work was required to grade the trail and save the monument sign. This adds cost for a small block wall. Additional survey staking was needed to assist Evergy in moving their pole outside of the trail area. BUDGETARY IMPACT: A decrease of$27,425.00.
