HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2025-115 Purchase 2026 Ford Transit Van for Police RESOLUTION R-2025-115 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 2026 FORD TRANSIT VAN FOR THE RIVERSIDE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPROVED BUDGET AND COOPERATIVE PURCHASING CONTRACT. WHEREAS, the City of Riverside Police Department currently operates a 2008 Ford van for its crime scene investigation unit, which is in need of replacement; and WHEREAS, the Police Department has identified a 2026 Ford Transit van available through Shawnee Mission Ford using a cooperative purchasing contract administered by the Mid- America Regional Council (MARC); and WHEREAS, the cost of the new vehicle is $58,000, which has been appropriated and approved in the City's Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, as follows: THAT the Board of Aldermen hereby approves the purchase of a 2026 Ford Transit van from Shawnee Mission Ford in the amount of $58,000 pursuant to the MARC cooperative purchasing contract, and that the Mayor, City Administrator, or their designee is authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to complete the purchase of the vehicle and to take such further actions as may be necessary to implement the intent of this Resolution; and FURTHER THAT upon delivery and commissioning of the new van, the 2008 Ford van shall be decommissioned,with existing equipment transferred as needed, and prepared for sale by auction; and FURTHER THAT the Mayor,the City Administrator,and other appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to take any and all actions as may be deemed necessary or convenient to carry out and comply with the intent of this Resolution and to execute and deliver for and on behalf of the City all certificates, instruments, agreements, and other documents, as may be necessary or convenient to perform all matters herein authorized. Overview OFFICER AGENDA DATE: July 1, 2025 BACKGROUND: This request is for the purchase of a 2026 Ford Transit van. This vehicle is intended to replace the 2008 Ford van we currently use for our crime scene investigation unit. This vehicle will provide a significantly improved working environment with the addition of rear air conditioning, a higher roofline, and a more efficient door configuration for the removal of equipment and the collection of evidence at crime scenes. The van currently in use will have most equipment removed and reinstalled in the new unit, then prepared for auction. The vehicle will be purchased from Shawnee Mission Ford using the MARC cooperative contract. Funds for this request were approved in the 2025-2026 fiscal budget. BUDGETARY IMPACT: $58,000
