AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE GENERAL POLICY RELATIVE TO C0t9PENSATION AND
FRINGE BENEFITS FOR THE Et7PL0YEES OF THE DEPARTP9ENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, t9ISS0URI.
WHEREAS, it is not the intention of the Board of Aldermen to contract
for any specific fringe benefits to any employee nor to provide for any
specific contractual agreement relative to the granting of pay increases,
and
WHEREAS, it is deemed in the interest of the City to specify the
current policy for gratuitous fringe benefits and income which may be
subject to change at any time by the Board of Aldermen.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERt9EN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE,
t9ISS0URI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section l.f9erit Pay. The granting of fee increases for merit pay
shall be a percentage of the employees base monthly pay and shall be
recommended by the Director of Public Safety to the Board of Aldermen
and it is the present policy of the City to review the merit pay of all
full time employees of the Public Safety Department except the Director
and his assistant in July and January of each year.
Section 2. Longevity Pay. Longevity pay may be granted by the City
on the anniversity date of the employee. Longevity pay shall be a per-
centage of the employee base monthly. pay. The percentage rate shall be
1% after three (3) years- of continuous employment, Z% additional after the
fourth (4) year of continuous employment and ~% after the fifth (5) year
of continuous employment. No additional longevity pay will be granted.
Section 3. Completion of Probation. An increase may be granted to a
full time Public Safety Officer of an additional $100.00 per month after
employee has completed 1 year of continuous employment. An increase may be
granted to a full time Public Safety Communication Specialist of an addit-
ional $50.00 per month after employee has completed 1 year of continuous
employment.
Section 4. Supervisor's Pay. Supervisor's pay may be granted to
management personnel other than the Director of Public Safety and his
assistant in the amount of $50.00 per month to those persons designated
by the Director of Public Safety to be supervisory.
Section 5. City Residence. Each full time Public Safety Officer may
be granted an additional $40.00 per month for residence within the City.
Section 6. Fringe Benefits. The City may also grant the following

of Public Safety:

A. Vacation. Each employee may receive 1 week of vacation after 1 full
year of continuous employment and thereafter after 2 years of continuous
employment 2 weeks of vacation.
B. Sick Pay. Each employee may be granted sick pay of 6 days per year
which may be accumulated to 24 days, but in the event of termination or
resignation no compensation shall be paid to the employee for accumulated
sick pay.
C. Health Insurance. Health insurance may be provided for the employee
and may be made available to families at the employee's cost.
D. Paid Holidays. The employee may be entitled to 6 paid holidays for
which he shall receive compensation at his regular hourly rate if he works
the holiday.
