HomeMy WebLinkAbout2151 Amending Employee Handbook Regarding Vehicle UseBILL NO. 2026-017 ORDINANCE NO. 2151 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK REGARDING VEHICLE USE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1 -AMENDMENT. Section 7.6 of the City of Riverside Employee Handbook is amended to read as follows: SECTION 7.6 VEHICLE USE While operating or riding in any City vehicle, passengers will comply with all laws governing the use of seatbelts and cell phones. Any question related to the appropriate use of a City vehicle should be directed to a Department Head or Human Resources. To support public safety and ensure the City's ability to respond promptly to emergency and critical incidents, certain positions are authorized to be assigned a City vehicle. The City Administrator shall designate take-home vehicle assignments into the following categories: Standby: A position responsible for being available at all times to respond immediately to the area of an emergency type event as needed . This includes the Fire and Police Chiefs and their command staff. Call-Out: An assignment/position subject to either permanent or shared 24-hour availability, which can vary by time period and personnel that rotate Call-Out responsibilities. This would include the K-9 officer, members of the Criminal Investigations Unit and the Public Works Director. Employees using their take-home vehicle for city and/or personal use, whose vehicle status falls under the Standby or Call-Out positions will remain within a 50-mile radius of the corporate city limits of Riverside to comply with being immediately available. The City Administrator may authorize additional positions or modify assignments based on operational need. Employees should not have an expectation of privacy in their use of a City-provided vehicle. SECTION 2 -EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and approval.
