AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CODE SECTION 16.7 RELATIVE TO SEWER CHARGES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
1. Section 1 of Code Section 16.7 regarding the rates
to be charged for the use and service of public sewers is hereby
amended by repealing the present Section 1 of Code Section 16.7,
and enacting in lieu thereof a new Section 1 of Code Section 16.7,
to read as follows:
SECTION 1. There is hereby levied a charge to be known
as a sewer service charge against each person, firm or partner-
ship and association occupying or owning property having a
sewer connection with the sewer system of the City of
Riverside, Missouri (including those sewers built pursuant
to a reciprocal agreement with the City of Kansas City,
Missouri, on August 16, 1965) or having sewers available
for connection or otherwise discharging sewage and indust-
rial waste water or liquid into the sewer system, said
charge to be as follows:
(a) For each single family residential sewer
connection, a charge of $6.18 per month.
(b) For each apartment house, mobile home park or
other multiple family residential sewer connection, a
sewer charge of $.25 cents per 100 cubic feet of water
purchased up to 5,000 cubic feet and a charge of $.24
cents per 100 cubic feet of water purchased for all
amounts of water in excess of 5,000 cubic feet, plus
an addition thereto of a service charge of 7 and 1/2
percent of the volume charge, plus an addition thereto
of a service charge of $2.30 per month.
(c) For each commercial establishment, a sewer
charge of $.25 cents per 100 cubic feet of water pur-
chased up to 5,000 cubic feet and a charge of $.24 cents
per 100 cubic feet of water purchased for all amounts
of water in excess of 5,000 cubic feet, plus an addition
thereto of a service charge of 10 percent of the volume
charge with a minimum service charge of $3.00 per month,
plus an addition thereto of a service charge of $2.30
per month.
(d) For each industrial establishment, a sewer
charge of $.25 cents per 100 cubic feet of water purchased
up to 5,000 cubic feet and a charge of $.24 cents per 100
cubic feet of water purchased for all amounts of water in
excess of 5,000 cubic feet, plus an addition thereto of a
service charge of 25 percent of the volume charge per month
with a minimum service charge of $5.00 per month, plus an
addition thereto of a service charge of $2.30 per month.
(e) For waste from-each commercial and industrial
establishment containing suspended solids in excess of
360 parts per million by weight or having biochemical
oxygen demand in excess of 300 parts per million by
weight, there shall be added to this charge a surcharge
equal to that surcharge charged to the City of Riverside
by the City of Kansas City, Missouri, pursuant to the
reciprocal sewer service agreement.
2. If the sewer charges set forth in this ordinance
are found by a court of law to be unconstitutional, the
previous Section 1 of Code Section 16.7, which was in effect
prior to the passage of this ordinance, shall return to full
legal force and effect.
3. Should any section, sentence or clause of this
ordinance be declared invalid or unconstitutional, such
declaration shall not affect the validity of the remaining
sections.
