HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-10 - Results of ElectionBILL N0. 7g~~ d ORDINANCE N0. ~~'~~ AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULTS OF ELECTION APRIL 4, 1978 WITH REGARD TO THE ABOLISHING OF THE ELECTED OFFICE OF COLLECTOR, PROVIDING THE DUTIES OF SAID ELECTED OFFICE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE DUTIES OF THE CITY CLERK AND FURTHER PROVIDING FOR ADMIN- ISTRATIVE CHANGES IN THE CITY CODE CONSISTENT WITH THE INTENT OF THIS ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Citizens of Riverside acting pursuant to Section 79.050 have voted to abolish the elective office of collector and said office is hereby declared abolished. Section 2. All duties of said Collector are hereby assigned to the City Clerk. Section 3. The Code of Riverside, Section 2.2 is hereby changed in the following manner: A. The word "collector" is abolished from Section 1 so said Section shall read as follows: "Elected officers. The Mayor, members of the Board of Aldermen, Marshall, and Municipal Judge are hereby declared to be the only officers of the City of Riverside to be elected by the people." B. The word "collector and the salary thereof" is hereby abolished from Section 5 so that said Section shall read as follows: "Salaries. The salaries of the city officials of the City of Riverside, Missouri, are hereby fixed at the following: Marshall Municipal Judge $50.00 per year $350.00 per month Mayor Aldermen $50.00 per meeting with a limit of $250.00 per month $25.00 per meeting. with a limit of $125.00 per montH:" r C. Subsection 6 is hereby amended to read as follows: "9. To collect all taxes and sums due to the City of Riverside and to perform all statutory duties of the City Collector." '-- D. Section 12 is eliminated which formerly read as follows: "Duties of Collector. The collector shall perform all duties required by the laws of this State, the ordinances and the Board of Aldermen." Section 4. Code Section 2.6 of the City of Riverside shall be changed to read as follows: A. The Secretary to the Board of Aldermen shall receive a monthly compensation of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per month. Section 5.
