ORDINANCE NO. ~'~ (v
AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE ELECTED AND APPOINTIVE OFFICERS
FOR THE CITY, DECLARING SALARIES, DUTIES AND TERM5 OF
OFFICE AND COMBINING SECTIONS 2.2 AND 2.12 OF THE
CODE OF RIVERSIDE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Elected Officers. The Mayor, members of
the Board of Aldermen, Marshall, Collector and Police Judge
are hereby declared to be the only officers of the City of
Riverside to be elected by the people.
Section 2. Appointive Officers. The City Clerk, Assistant
City Clerk, Treasurer, Attorney, Assistant Attorneys, Engineer,
are hereby declared to be appointive officers of the City.
Section 3. Employees. All persons holding or that
may hold other positions under the city government other
than those set forth in Section 1 and 2 of this Ordinance are
hereby declared to be employees.
Section 4. Term of Office. Terms of all elected
officials shall be for two (2) years or until their successors
are elected and qualified. The term of the appointive officers
shall be until resignation or termination by the Alayor with the
consent and approval of a majority of the members of the
Board of Aldermen.
Section 5. Salaries. The salaries of the city officials
of the City of River- s d are hereby fixed at the following:
Collector $50.00 per month (plus $25.00
per month for additional duty of
collecting sewer tax to be paid
to the City of Kansas City, Mo.).
Marshall $50.00 per year

Treasurer $1.00 per year
Pblice,Judge $125.00 per month ($200.00 per
month effective 1974 election)
Section 6. Duties of City Clerk. The duties of the City
Clerk shall be as follows:
1. To keep a journal of the proceedings of the Board of
Aldermen. (the minutes)
2. To keep all ordinances and code books current.
3. To safely and properly keep the records and papers
belonging to the City which may be entrusted to her care.
4. To be the general accountant for the City.
5. To administer official oaths.
6. To administer oaths to persons certifying to demands
or claims against the City.
7. To do such administrative duties as may be delegated
to her by the Mayor .
8. To attend all regular and special meetings of the ~
Board of Aldermen unless otherwise directed by the - ~'
Mayor or Mayor "Pro Tem".
Section 7. Duties of Assistant City Clerk. The duties of the
Assistant City Clerk shall be as follows:
1. Those duties entrusted to the City Clerk.
2. To attend all regular and special meetings of
The Board of Aldermen unless otherwise directed
by the Mayor or Mayor Pro Tem.
3. To do such administrative duties as may be delegated
to her by the City Clerk or Mayor.
Section 8. Duties of the Treasurer. The office of
treasurer is combined with that of City Clerk and the City
Clerk shall serve as ex officio treasurer. The Treasurer
shall keep such records and make such reports as may be
required by state statute, the ordinances or the Board of
Aldermen.
Section 9. Duties of City Engineer. The City Engineerx
such engineering duties as may be delegated to him by the
Board of Aldermen. All records made by him or which come into
his possession shall be kept on file by him.
Section 10. Duties of City Attorney. The City Attorney
shall act as counselor for the Mayor and Board of Aldermen on
all City matters, attend all meetings of the Board of Aldermen
and sessions of the Police Court when requested to attend same
by the Mayor, any member of the Board of Aldermen, the Police
Chief or Police Judge. He shall represent the City in all
matters of a civil or police nature in which the City may be
interested, draw all ordinances and legal documents.
Section 11. Duties of Assistant City Attorney. The
Assistant City Attorney shall have those duties as may be
delegated to him by the City Attorney.
Section 12. Duties of Police Judge. The Police Judge
shall perform all duties imposed upon him by the laws of the state ~
Section 13. Duties of Collector. The Collector shall
perform all duties required by the laws of this State, the
ordinances and the Board of Aldermen.
Section 14. Salary of Appointive Officers. The appointive
officers of the City shall receive such salary as may be
determined by the Board of Aldermen.
Section 15. Changes in Code. The City Clerk is
directed to make the appropriate changes in the City Code.
