HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-15-6 - Creation of Planning CommissionBILL N0./S _(o ORDINANCE N0. ~-~ 6 f AiV ORDINANCE CREATING A PLANNING COMMISSION IN THE \ RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, SPECIFYING 1'HE TERM AND MANNER APPOINTMENT OF ITS MEMBERS, PROVIDING THE METHOD OF OF ANY PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBER AND REPEALING ALL IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE. CITY OF OF REMOVAL ORDINANCES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI. Section 1. NUMBER OF MEMBERS. There is hereby created a planning commission in t e City o Riverside, Missouri, which shall consist of not more than fifteen (15) or less than seven (7) members including the Mayor, a member of the council selected by the council, the city engineer and such other citizens that may be appointed by t}ie Mayor and approved by the council. Section 2. TERM. The term of each citizen appointed to the first commission following the adoption of this ordinance shall be as follows: 2 for 4 years, 3 for 3 years, Z for 2 years, the remaining members for one year. Thereafter, the citizen members shall be appointed for a four (4) year term. Any vacancy in a citizen membership shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment of the Mayor and approval of the Board of Aldermen. Section 3. SERVE WITHOUT COMPENSATION. All citizen: members of the commission s all serve wit out compensation. Section 4. REMOVAL. The council may remove any citizen member for cause stateT~in writing and after public hearing. Section 5. POWERS AND DUTIES. The planning commission shall have and per orm all o t e duties and functions of the planning commission provided for in Sections 89.300 to 89.490 inclusive, laws of Missouri, 1969 and such other duties and powers as shall be as set forth in the statutes of the State of Missouri or the ordinances of the City of Riverside, Missouri. Section 6. CHAIRMAN AND SECRETARY. The commission shall elect its chairman an secretary rom the citizen members. The term of the chairman and secretary shall be for one (1) year with eligibility for re-election. Section 7. REPEAL OF ORDINANCE IN CONFLICT. All ordinances in conflict with t is or finance are ere y repealed. Section 8. INVALIDITY OF PART. If any section, paragraph, sub-division, clause, p rase, or provision of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof.
