AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION N0. 12.1 OF THE CODE BOOK
OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AND CREATING A NEW
SECTION 12.1
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE,
MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Section 12.1 of the Code Book
of the City of Riverside, Missouri is hereby revoked and
Section 12.1 shall be created to read as follows:

12.1 LICL'-NSE FEE
SECTION 1. SCUP E'. No person shall carry on or operate,
maintain or engage in any occupation, business, trade or avocation
of any kind enumerated herein without first obtaining a license
which said license shall be issued by the City to such person,
firm, partnership, corporation or legal entity upon proper
application being made therefor and payment of the fee prescribed
by the Board of Aldermen. No such license shall. be transferrable
or assignable. Each license tlt>ar i.s issued to a designated
address or location shall not be used for any other location
within the City of Riverside unless application fur a different
designated address shall first have been made to the Board of
Aldermen and permission granted by the Board of Aldermen.
SECTION 2. DEFINITION.
Business - The buying and selling of commodities, services
or any activity intended to be productive of income.
lnside Occupation, Business, Trade or Avocation - Any
occupation, trade, avocation or us~iness tha--Misplays
none of its merchandise out of a building and conducts
any of its business, occupation, trade or avocation
outside.
Trade - All work and means of earning a living.

SEC'1']:ON ~. TEP.AI OP LICENSE. Tlie tei°m of all
licenses shall conunence on January 1st and expire on
Decem'oer 31st of each ~•ear ea:cept as provided herein.
SECTION 5. PRORA'C10N. The fee based on the prorational
time until the next date of rile regular issuance of occupational
license shall. be charged at the time of the initial application.
T'he fee shall he deterruined by the quarter of the; license year
in t•:hich t11e application is msde. Provided, however, no
proration shall be made for licenses for seasonal businesses
or liquor licenses.
SECTION 6. ISSUANCIi ANll I'GRM OP LICENSE. The City
Collector shall i.sue a1. 1. licenses prescribed in this chapter
and shall prescribe the form themfor.
S1:CTION 7. CODIPLIANCIi OF ZONING RP GilI,A'I'IONS. The
City Collector shall issue all licenses subject to the

licensee's compliance with all zoning requirements and shall
have the power to revoke any license for failure to comply
with the zoning requirements and upon application may refund the
unused portions of the annual license fee paid for such revoked
license.
SECTION 8. MORE T[}AN ONE OCCUPATION AT TIIE SAME ADDRI?SS.
Where more than one occupation, business, trade or avocation
as enumerated herein is carried on at the same address the licensee
shall make an application for each separate occupation, business,
trade or avocation.
SL'C'fION 9. SEPARATE LICENSE FOR EACH PLACE OF BUSINESS.
Separate licenses shall he obtained for each location at which
an occupation, business, avocation or trade is carried on.
SECTION 10. DELAY IN PAYMENT - PENALTY. Should the
licensee fail to make application for renewal, the fee to be
charged for such license shall be increased 25$ if the renewal
license is applied for prior to February 1st of the succeeding
cllendar year. T'he fee of t:he license shall be increased 500
if such renewal license is not applied for prior to March 1st of such
succeeding calendar year.
SECTION 11. DISPLAY OP LICENSE. All licenses granted
by the City shall be carefully preserved and shall be displayed
in a conspicuous place in the place of business by the licensee.
SECTION 12. PENALTIES. Violation of this ordinance
shall he punishahle by fine not to exceed $100.00 or by
imprisonment not to exceed 90 days or by both such fine and imprison-
ment and each days operation of an occupation or business without having
obtained the necessary licenses as provided for lie rein shall constitute
a separate violation. Nothing in this section shall he construed
to prohihit the City from civil action to collect unpaid license
fees.
S1iC1'ION 13. INVALIDITY. Should any portion of this ~
Ordinance b^_ declares invalid, then the same shall. not affect the
remainder of the ordi_narree and it shall .emain in lull force and effect.
