HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-086 - Results of Special ElectionBILL N0. 86 ORDINANCE N0. 86 AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, ON JANUARY 27, 1953, AT WHICH ELECTION THERE WAS SUBIv1ITTED TU THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY A PROPOSITION TO GRANT TG THE KANSAS CITY POWER & LIGHT COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, FOR THE FULL TERM OF TWENTY (20) YEARS, AN ELECTRIC LIGHT FRANCHISE AS SET OUT IN ORDINANCE NO. 79. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That it is hereby found and determined that the vote at the Special Election helc in the City of Riverside, Missouri, on January 27, 1953, for the purpose of voting on a proposition to grant to the Kansas City Power & Light Comps ny, its successors and assigns, for the full term of twenty (20) years, an electric light franchise as set out in Ordinance No, 79, resulted as follows: "For Electric Light Franchise Ordinance No, 79, 82 ballots" "Against Electric Light Franchise Ordinance No, 79, 15 ballots" Section 2. That it is hereby found, declared and deter- mined that more than a majority of the qualified voters of the City of Riverside, Missouri, voting at the Special Election held in said City on January 27, 1953, voted in favor of grant- ing to the Kansas City Power 8 Light Company, its successors and assigns, for the full term of twenty (20) years, an electric light franchise as set out in Ordinance No, 79, and it is further found, declared and determined that said Ordinance No. 79 is now in full force and effect as provided by law. Section 3. That it is further found, declared and deter- mined that notice of said election was duly given and published in the manner provided by law, and the said election was duly held and conducted in all respects in conformity with the Constitution and laws of the State of Missouri, and in accord- ance with ail ordinances adopted by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri. Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and adoption.
