HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-252 - Repealing Ordinance Nos. 7 and 25 Providing for Registration of Motor Vehicles Owned and Operated by Residents and Business EstablishmentsBILL NO. 253 ORDINANCE NO. 252 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCES NO. 7 AND NO. 25 OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE AND ENACTINCG A NEW ORDINANCE IN LIEU THEREOF PROVIDING FOR THE REGISTRATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES OWNE AND OPERATED WITHIN SAID CITY BY RESIDENTS AND BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENTS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. All passenger cars or trucks or busses owned and operated on the streets of the City of Riverside by any resident of said City or any business establishment, whether sole proprietor- ship, partnership, or corporation located within the limits of said City shall be by said person or business registered with the City Clerk and a license obtained therefor upon payment of the fee herein- after prescribed. Section.2.The term of such license shall be from January 1 until December 31 of each year. Section 3. The fee to be charged for such license by the City Clerk shall be 1.50 per year for passenger cars and 3.00 per year for trucks and busses, (Trucks,1/2 ton or over), license re- placement 50 cents. Section 4. A suitable license sticker shall be issued by the City to be displayed by the registrant on the front windshield of the motor vehicle for which issued. Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any person or business establishment to operate any such vehicle upon the streets of the City after January 15 of each year without having obtained a license or such vehicle for such year as above provided. Section 6. Persons becoming residents of the City after January 1 of each year shall have a period of 30 days in which to obtain such license. Section 7. Any person, firm, or corporation violating the terms of this ordinance shall be subject to punishment by a fine not to exceed $25.00 and costs. Each day's operation of a motor vehicle without obtaining a license as provided by the terms of this ordinance shall be deemed a separate offense. Passed this 21st day of August, 1956. /s/ F.F.
