HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-253-R4 - Repeal Ordinance 253Bill No. 25384 Ordinance N~. 25384 An Ordinance repealin_; Ordinance No. 25383 of the City of Riverside, Missouri, and enacting new provisions in lieu thereof requiring that licenses be obtained by the operators of various classifi- cations of business in the City and prescribing the fees to be charged therefor and providing a penalty for violation thereof. RB IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. An Ordinance No. 25383 of the City of Riverside is hereby repealed and the following provisions are enacted in lieu thereof. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, partner- ship, or corporation to carry on, operate, maintain, or engage in any business of any kind or character within the limits of the City of Riverside, Missouri, without first obtaining an occupation license for such business, which license shall be issued by the City to Such person, firm, partnership, or corporation upon proper application being made therefor and payment of the fee prescribed by the Board of Aldermen. No such licanse shall be transferable or assignable. Each license shall be issued for a designated address or location within the City of Riverside and shall not be-used fcr any other location within the City of Riverside unless application to rnove the location of such business shill first have been melde to the Roard of Aldermen and permission granted by the Board of Aldermen. Section 3. Fees to be paid for licenses for various occupations are set as follows: OCCUPATION PER YEAR Animal Hospitals $ 52'50 Antique Shops 52.50 Appliance Store 57'75 Auctions 1 0 5.00 Automobile Agencies 105.00 Bate and/or Sporting Goods Shops 52.50 Bakeries 52.50 Banks 86'63 Barbershops 52.50 Beauty Shops 52'50 Book Stores 52.50 Bowling Alleys 115.50 Building Materials Yards 115.50 Caterers 57'75 Cleaning and pressing shops 52.50 Concession stands: $86.63 per year for the operation of not more than six concession stands in a single place of amusement; $14.34 per year for each additional stand, provided, however, if food and/or beverages are sold from such concession stands by vendors circulating through such places of amusement and under the super- vision and/or control of the business operating such. concession stands in a place of amusement, then and in that event $144.38 per year for the operation of not more than six concession stands in a single place of amusement; $28.88 per year for each additional con- cession stand. Any business that displays any of its merchandise or_~equipment out of its building or conducts any of its business out- side of a, building is considered an outside business and shall pay a minimum of $105.00 per year occupation license. Examples of some such businesses are: Drive-in eating places, auto agencies, junk or salvage yards, trailer sales, egiipment rental, filling stations, etc. and any business displaying a part of their wares outside of their business such as nursury stock, vending machines, etc. Minimum occupation license- $52.50. Section 5. Any person, firm partnership or corpoWhichnbasinessgoro enter into a.ny business or occupation within the City, occupation is not above listed and the fee for such occupational license prescribed by the terms of this ordinance, shall apply for an occupatic~aal license from the Board of Aldermen and the Board of Aldermen upon such application shall set the fee to be charged per year for such occupational. license for such occupation or business and others like it, As regards to those persons applying for a renewal of their occupation license, no proration of the license fee for a period of less than one year shall be permitted, but for any person applying for an occupation license for the first time from the City of Riverside, pro-ration shall~be permitted on the basis of not less than one-third (1/3) of said license fee for any portion of the year remaining which sha.llofetheslicenseofee third (1/3~ of the calendar year andtwo-thirds (2/3) for any portion of the year remaining which shall be more than one-third (lj3) and less than two-thirds (2j3) of the calendar year. There shall be no proration of such license for seasonal business or liquor licenses. Nothing in this ordinance shall apply to liquor-by-the drink or intoxicat- ing beer or non-intoxicating beer licenses. Section 6. Occupational licenses for the operation of a garage business shall be issued for no more than one quarter of a calendar year and shall be successively renewable for no m re than one quarter of a calendar year at a time. The fee to be paid for such garage occupation license shall be $26.25 perquarter of the calendar year with no pro-ration for any portion of such quarter. All operators of licensed garages shall keep the premises on which such business is loated in a neat and good orderly condition and shall not permit the accumulation thereon of ,junk, trash, debris and wrecked vehicles. Any licensee holding a garage license, who shall have abided by the requirements of this ordinance and the other ordinances of the City of Riverside, shall be entitled to have his occupation license renewed from such quarter license period to the next quarter license period upon making application therefor aml paying the fee herein prescribed. Any licensee who shall violate the terms of this ordinance or any other ordinances of the City of Riverside may in the discretion of the Board of Aldermen be denied the renew al of said license. Section 7.
