HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-326A2 Repealing Ordinance 326A1 and Enacting In Lieu Thereof an Ordinance Relating To Those Engaged in Furnishing Exchange Telephone ServiceBILL NO. 326-A-2 ORDINANCE NO. 326-A-2 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE 326A1 AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO PERSONS, FIRMS, COMPANIES OR CORPORATIONS NOW OR HEREAFTER ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS OF FURNISHING EXCHANGE `i'ELEPLONE SERVICE IN TLE CI'.L Oc' RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI AND PROVIDING FOR AN ANNUAL OCCUPATION LICENSE FEE TO BE PAID BY SUCH PERSONS, FIRMS, COMPANIES OR CORPORATIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Every person, firm, company or corporation now or hereafter engaged in the business of furnishing exchange telephone service in the City of Riverside, Missouri shall pay to said City an annual occupation license fee. Section 2. The first payment of said occupation license fee shall be made on the first day of March, 1961 and shall cover the license period from January 1, 1960 to and including December 31, 1960. This amount to be an estimated _rive per cent (5%) of gross receipts of furnishing telephone service within the City of Riverside, Missouri for the year 1960. Payment for the year 1961 shall also be of an amount estimated to be five per cent (5%) of gross receipts of furnishing telephone exchange service within the City of Riverside, Missouri as of December 31, 1961 and shall be payable on or before March 1, 1962. Subsequent years' payments shall be arrived. at and paid in a like manner. Section 3. All such persons, firms, companies or corporations licensed hereunder on the request of any person shall remove or raise or lower its wires temporarily to permit the moving of houses or other bulky structures. The expense of such temporary removal, raising or lowering of wires shall be paid by the party or parties requesting such raising or lowering of wires, and payment in advance may be re- quired. Not less than forty-eight (46) hours' advance notice shall be given to arrange for such temporary wire changes. Section '. The annual payment provided herein shall be paid in lieu of any other obligation, license or merchandising tax, but shall not be in lieu of any ad valorurn tax and Ordinance 326A1 and all ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and approval. PASSED this 18th day of October, 1960. /s/ Fred Filger Mayor ATTEST: I.
