BILL NO. ~~~ ~(_ 4 ORDINANCE NO.-,_` AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR TF3E DUTY TO STOP IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT: THE IMMEDIATE REPORT OF ACCIDENTS= T E DUTY UPON STRIKING AN UNATTENDED VEHICLE; AND THE DUTY UPON STRIKING ~IXTURES UPON THE HIGHWAY, AND PROVIDING PENALTY r'OR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to or death of any person or damage to property shall immediately stop such vehicle at the scene of such accident, and shall give his name and address, and the registration number of his vehicle, to the person struck or to the driver or occupant of any vehicle collided with, and shall render to any person injured in such accident reasonable assistance, including the carrying of such person to a physician or surgeon for medical or surgical treat- ment if it is app~~rant that such treatment is necessary or is re- quested by the injured person. Section 2. The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident re- sulting in injury to or death of any person or property damage to an apparent extent of tw,~nty-five dollars ($25.00) or more, shall immediately by the quickest means of communication, either verbal or written, give notice of such accident to the police department if such accident occurs within this city, and such driver shall remain at the scene. of said accident unless injured until the police department arrives and makes an investigation of said accident. Section 3. The driver of any vehicle which collides with another vehicle which is unattended shall immediately stop and either locate and notify the operator or owner of the vehicle struck, of the name and address of the driver and owner of the vehicle striking the unattended vehicle or shall leave in a conspicuous place in the vehicle struck a written notice giving the name and address of the driver and of the owner of the vehicle doing the striking. section 4. The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting only in damage to fixtures legally upon or adjacent to a highway shall take reasonable steps to locate and notify the owner or persons in charge of such property of such fact, of his name and address and of the registration number of the vehicle he is driving and upon requetit if available, exhibit his operator's or chauffer's license and make report of such accident when and as required in Section 2. Section 5. Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be subject to a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) or imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days or both such fine and imprisonment.
