AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE RECEIVING OF STOLEN PROPERTY: REQUIRING
ANY PERSON COMING INTO POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY TO NOTIFY PEACE
OFFICER AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE,
MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. It shall beunlawful for any person to buy, or
in any way receive, any goods, money, right in action, personal
property, or any valuable security or effects whatsoever, that shall
have been embezzled, converted, taken or secreted from another person,
or that shall have been stolen from another person, knowing the same
to have been so embezzled, taken or secreted or stolen.
SECTION 2. ]l~1lY person who shall, after caning into
possession of such property, learn that it has been stolen, embezzled,
converted, taken or secreted from another person is hereby required
to thereupon notify an officer of the City having police powers
and on demand, surrender said property to the City.
SECTION 3. Any person violating the provisions of this
ordinance shall, upon conviction be subject to a fine of not more
than $100.00 or by imprisonment i.n the city jail for not more than
90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
