HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-02-01MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI FEBRUARY 1, 1983 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City:of'. Riverside, Missouri was held on February ~, 1983, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall in Riverside. On a roll call, aldermen Scudder, Rodeberg, Karr and Gordy were present; West and Peeler absent. The minutes of January 4, 1983 were read and approved as read. The minutes of January 18, 1983 were read and approved as corrected. Steven West, 4142 Mercer, K. C., M0. representing Structo Fence, presented plans for remodeling and plans for a new building. Included_ with the plans was an application for change of use. This location is at the "old Cosmos" buidling. (Peeler present this portion of meeting.) These plans were discussed and he was advised that the Mayor would contact him advising the conclusion of the_-..Board concerning these applications. Mr. Peyton of White City Motel was present and he talked to the Mayor and Board with regard to his remodeling the Cellar Bar and making this area into apartments, each would have a private bath and also that the had to put in new heating systems. He said he could not give definite drawings and plans to the Board. He also inquired whether he could use our City Engineer to look over what he is doing and see what the Engineer's opinion is. The Mayor and Board thought they would have to talk to the City Attorney and see if Mr. Peyton could hire the City Engineer to work for him, since the City felt he should be the one to have to absorb the Engineer's expense. Mayor Holmes will contact the City Attorney and will get in touch with Mr. Peyton. A letter dated January 5, 1983, was received from the Parkville Special Road District. A letter dated January 29, 1983, from Art King, pertaining to the hearing on Missouri Cities Water Company application was read. Mayor Holmes advised that since the last meeting, quite a few applications have received to fill the position of the Road Maintainer. Karr moved that the City authorize the Director of Public Safety to hire a part-time truck driver in an emergency situation with the approval of the Mayor or until the street department vacancy is filled, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Karr and Gordy voted aye; West absent. A letter dated January 21, 1983, from Dan Czamanske, was read, this pertained to his working with his clients on fireworks and concerning an iformational handout and some signs will be fur- nished by his clients. Reg. Meeting of Board of Aldermen Page 2, Feb. 1, 1983 Chief Wingo requested permission to send three of his men to a Fire Fighting Seminar to be held February 25, 26 and 27. The Mayor and Board felt that the City could only spare two men and authorized the expenses for two men to go to the Seminar. Bids to grade Northwood Road are to be obtained. Scudder moved that Bill No. 83-8 being bill providing for the purchase and installation of signs regulating the speed on North- wood Road to 35 miles per hour be placed on its first reading, seconded by Gordy, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Karr and Gordy voted aye; West absent, said bill was accordingly read. Rodeberg moved that Bill No. 83-8 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Karr and Gordy voted aye; West absent, said bill was accordingly read. Gordy moved that Bill No. 83-8 be placed on its third read- ing and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 83-8, seconded by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Karr and Gordy voted aye; West absent, said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, ap- proved by Mayor Holmes and became Ordinance N0. 83-8. Rodeberg moved that Bill No. 83-9, being bill authorizing the change of fees for fireworks permits to be changed and that same be put on the ballot of the regular election in Riverside in April be placed on its first reading, seconded by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Scudder, Rodeberg, Karr and Gordy voted aye; Peeler, Nay, and West absent, said bill was accord- ingly read. Scudder moved that bill No. 83-9 be placed on its second reading, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Scudder, Rodeberg, Karr and Gordy voted aye; Peeler-nay, West absent; said bill was accordingly read. Scudder moved that Bill No. 83-9 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ord. No. 83-9, seconded by Gordy, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Scudder, Rode- berg, Karr and Gordy voted aye; Peeler-nay, West Absent, said bill was accordinlly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approv- ed by Mayor Holmes and became Ordinance No. 83-9. There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
