MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF
BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI
JULY 12, 1983
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of River-
side, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, on July
12, 1983. On a roll .call, aldermen Karr, Gordy, Rodeberg, and Bren-
ner were present; Peeler and Wedua absent this portion of meeting,
said meeting was called to order by Mayor Holmes.
The minutes of July 5, 1983, were read and approved as corrected.
Kenneth Whittlesey, 5016 High Drive, inquired as to whether
or not he needed a building permit to replace the roof on one of
his houses, he would change the pitch of the roof. Since this was
changing the roof line, it would require a building permit.
Gary D. Hershner, 1200 N.E. 74th Terrace, Gladstone, M0, 64118,
presented application for business license at Dairy Queren. This
was approved subject to the payment of the fee. and certificate
from Platte County Healty Department.
Rober Cornelius, 4814 N.W. Holmsted Road, said he was represen-
tative of D. W. Newcomer & Sons and White Chappel and wanted to
know if he could go door to door making a survey. He was advised
that most of the residents do not appreciate door to door solicita-
tion and would not recommend it.
Gene Wheeler of the Industrial Development Authority of Platte
County presented a Resolution to the City for its approval concerning
Industrial Bond in the sum of $800,000; The Home State Bank of Kansas
City, Kansas, as Trustee under a Trust for the benefit of the Child-
ren of Walter R. Thomas. (Peeler present this portion of meeting).
Rodeberg moved that the City accept the above Resolution, seconded
by Gordy, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy,
Rodeberg, Peeler and Brenner voted aye; Wedua absent.
Wedua present this portion of meeteing.
A letter from Shryrock Realty Company, dated July 6, 1983,
was read. Said letter thanked the City of Riverside and the Public
Safety Department for it cooperation in certain matters concerning
their apartment complex.
A letter dated July 11, 1983, from Mr. Satterlee of the Missouri.
Highway and Transportation Dept. was read. This thanked the City
for its letter thanking the State Highway Department for a job well
done.
Mayor Holmes provided information on the Platte County Mayors'
Council concerning the last request the Missouri Cities Water Company
had made before the Missouri Public Service Commission for an increase
in their water rate.
He said on the last request for increase the savings for River-
side area was $25,204.14, on the water rates.

Bids on the removal of the trees from Line Creed, are as follows:
Haggerd Hauling & Rigging - $116.00 per hour - estimated hours
5 to 6 hours.
Belger Cartage Service, Inc. - $171.00 per hour, estimated
time - 4 to 5 hours - or on an final bid $2800.
Garnet' - $160.00 per hour.
Karr moved that we accept the low bidder, being Haggerd for
the sum of $116.00 per hour for 5 to 6 hours, seconded by Gordy,
the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy, Rodeberg,
Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye.
City Attorney Don Witt said he was contacted by Quick Trip,
concerning their sewer line extending 34 feet along Vivion. This
would be to connect to the main sewer line and would be an agreement
with Warren Brenner. Mr. Witt said he could not see where the City
would have no liability.
The Mayor and Board went into executive session. The meeting
reconvened. The roll was called and Karr, Gordy, Rodeberg, Peeler,
Wedua and Brenner were present, with Mayor Holmes preciding over
-" remainder of meeting.
The owner of Nearly and New Furniture Store called Betty Burch
inquiring whether she could have an auction on Sunday, July 24,
1983, stating this would be a one time only project. The Board
agreed to the one time only.
Karr moved that the Finance Committe be authorized to secure
bids on a .tota'1 of:,•..$200,000 on the 19th of July and that
same be bill No. 83-20 and placed on its first reading, seconded
by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr,
Gordy, Rodeberg, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill
was accordingly read.
Gordy moved that Bill No. 83-20 be placed on its second reading,
seconded by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows:

bill was accordingly read.
Rodeberg moved that Bill No. 83-20 be placed on its third reading
and upon passage of same become Ordinance N0. 83-20, seconded by
Gordy, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Karr, Gordy,
Rodeberg, Peeler, Wedua and Brenner voted aye; said bill was accord-
ingly read, attached hereto, made a part hereof, approved by Mayor
Holmes and became Ordinance No. 83-20.
Rodeberg inquired whether the City could grade an ditch the
area by the City Park and maybe black top the ditch. This would
be looked into.

Pride and Progress had the second City Entrance
Sign installed on Warren Brenner's Property; it needs
some land scaping and an inquiry was made by Rodeberg
on behalf of the Pride and Progress Committee if the
City could do this. This would be looked into to see
what it will take.
It was suggested that a letter be written
to Twin-Drive In requesting their removing the sign at
the entrance.
There being no further business, upon motion
made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 11:43
