HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-11-02MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI NOVEMBER 2, 1982 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Misouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on November 2, 1982, at 7:30 p.m. On a roll call, aldermen West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, and Karr were present, Gordy absent, Mayor Holmes calling said meeting to order. The Minutes of October 12, 1982 were read and approved as corrected. There was no meeting on October 19, 1982 because a quorum was not present. The minutes of October 26, 1982, were read and approved as corrected. Allen and Olive L. Witt, 15017 W. 71 Terrace, Shawnee Mission, Kansas 66216 presented application for business license for all fast foods at 4510 N.W. Gateway (Dairy Queen). The freezer on the outside of the buidling and not connected to the main building was discussed. Mr. Witt said that he had intended to do some remodeling and that the freezer was to incorporated in this remodeling. The sales tax number had been applied for. The Council approved the application, subject to obtaining a sales tax number and giving him until June 1983 to correct the situation of the outside freezer. Rober Edmonds, Route #25, Box 50, Kansas City, MO 64150 presented application for business license to operate a resale and retail auto parts store at 2711 N.W. Vivion Road; he also presented a change of use application, along with sign application. These matters were discussed. Mr. Edmonds also presented remodeling application. which also was discussed. The business license was approved subject to the payment of the fee. Peeler moved that the building or remodeling permit be waived, seconded by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Karr voted aye; Gordy absent. Peeler moved that the change of use permit be accepted without a fee, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Karr voted aye; Gordy absent. West moved that the sign application for the sign that complies with the footage measurement as required by ordinance be approved, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Scudder, Peeler and Karr voted aye; Gordy absent. J. Stephen West, 4502 N.W. Pawnee Dr. presented a remodeling application, a change. of ruse application and a building application at 4301 N.W. Gateway. These matters were discussed. He wanted to use the present building for retail fence operation, the proposed new constructed building would be for shop purposes, and he also inquired concerning the fence along Riverside Street. Steph- en is to make a few changes on the drawings, since the buildings fronting on the streets need to have a masonary front and that it may be that the building to be constructed would be in the wrong zoning. Leeann Zimmerman and Gary Brrenner of inquired whether a definite Saturday in the fall could be designated as Riverside's Fall festival Day. This was discussed. Rodeberg moved that the recommendation of Pride and Progress that the 4th Saturday of Septem- ber be designated as Riverside's Fall Festival Day be accepted, seconded by Karr, the roll was call- ed and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, and Karr voted aye; Gordy absent. A recess was called. The meeting reconvened, the foll was called and West, Scudder, Rodeberg Peeler, and Karr were present, Gordy absent; and Mayor holmes presiding over remainder of meeting. Rev. Goode spoke to the Mayor and Board concerning the program development for the juveniles and that there will be a meeting at 7:30 p.m. at David and Merilyns to discuss this project. He also passed out data outlining the project. Minutes of Reg. Meeting Page 2 - Nov. 2, 1982 Scudder moved that Bill No. 62-38 being bill appointing James W. Van Amburg as the Assistant City Attorney be placed on its first reading, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Karr voted aye; Gordy absent; said bill was accord- ingly read. Karr moved that Bill No. 82-38 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, and Karr voted aye; Gordy absent, said bill was accordingly read. Scudder moved that- Bill No. 82-38 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No.82-38, seconded by Karr, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Karr voted aye; Gordy absent; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made apart hereof, approved by Mayor Holmes and became Ordinance No. 82-38. It was agreed to waive the occupation license for the State Highway Department office at Gateway Center. Letters from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, dated October 22, 1982 to Joseph W. Hannah and James Trimble respectively were read. This concerned their cleaning up the area in the bottoms. A letter from 6arbara Craig, dated October 5, 1982 was read. This consisted of her resigna- tion from the Planning Commission. There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 11:37 p.m.
