HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-01-05MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI January 5, 1982 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside on January 5, 1982, at 7:30 p.m. On a roll call, Aldermen West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell were present, Mayor Brenner calling said meeting to order. Minutes of December 15, 1981, were read and approved as corrected. Mr. Pierson of Seven Oaks addition was present and inquired as to what the City has heard concerning the streets he says he proposes to improve. It appeared the City did not receive any new progress report. Mr. Geary Faucett, 3403 N.W. Belton, Riverside, Mo. inquired as to where Mr. Pierson was with his building plans. It appeared there was no progress report on this insofar as the City was concerned. He said he would like to know when it would be before the Board as he planned to be present and he was advised to keep in touch with the City Clerk, Betty Burch. West moved that Bill No. D-82-1 being bill requiring the restoration or removal of buildings damaged or destroyed by fire, tornado or other cause and providing criminal penalty for the violation thereof, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; said bill was according- ly read. Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-82-1 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Scudder moved that bill No. D-82-1 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. D-82-1, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and became Ordinance No. D-82-1. Attorney Don Witt informed the Mayor and Board that it appeared Bill Woodside was in violation of the Flood Ordinance concerning the recent construction of the building. Attorney Don Witt brought the Mayor and Board up to date on the 9-1-1 program. Meeting - Jan. 5, 1982 Page 2 Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-82-2 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Holmes, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; Scudder nay; said bill was accordingly read. Rodeberg moved that bill No. D-82-2 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. D-82-2, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; Scudder nay; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and became Ordinance No. D-82-2. Scudder moved that Bill No. D-82-3 being bill amending Code Section 16.7 relative to sewer charges be placed on its first reading, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scud- der, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; said bill was ac- cordingly read. Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-82-3 be placed on its second reading, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbel voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Scudder moved that Bill No. D-82-3 be placed on its third reading, ind upon passage of same become Ordinance No. D-82-3, seconded by Rode- berg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rode- berg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and became Ordinance No. D-83-2. The subject of parking spaces required for certain businesses was discussed. A recess was called. Meeting reconvened, the roll was called and West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell were present, and Mayor Brenner presiding over remainder of meeting. The drainage problem on Riverside Street was discussed. Attorney Don Witt advised the Mayor and Board that basically the citizens could not organize a City Drainage District, but the City may have levee dis- tricts to do this; could have special assessment districts and the people within the district could form the district. Scudder moved that Bill No. D-824 being bill accepting the Police Committee Report and providing for the increases to the City Employees as set out therein be placed on its first reading, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-82-4 be placed on its second reading, -seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. - Reg. Meeting - Jan. 5. 1982 Pagae 3 West moved that Bill No. D-82-4 be placed on its third reading, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and became Ordinance No. D-82-4. There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned, at 11:15 p.m.
