HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-12-01• MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF ~~ REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI DECEMBER 1, 1981 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, was held in the City Hall in Riverside on December 1, 1981, at 7:30 p.m. On a roll call, aldermen West, Rodeberg, Holmes and Camp- bell were present, Scudder and Peeler absent, and Mayor Brenner calling said meeting to order. The Minutes of Nov. 17, 1981, were read and approved as corrected. Virginia and John Scott were present as spectators. Mel Kerr - 113 N.W. 61st Terr., Gladstone, MO 64118 and Al Folsom, 6217 N.W. Roanridge, K.C., MO 64151 were present to talk about their business. They had cleared out many of the cars and assured the Mayor and Board they would keep their premises cleaned up and move as many cars from sight as possible and were willing to cooperate with the City. (Peeler present this portion of meeting). Jim Venus, 7723 N.E. 55th Street, K.C., M0. and John Mika, 10904 W. 73rd Street, Shawnee Mission, KS were present to talk about cleaning up Venus Auto Repair. They have already started to move some of the cars and said they would move more within the next two weeks. Jim Venus informed the Board that he had not entered into any agreement with Dale Hines for "Dale's Tow Service" at 4121 Riverside Drive. Mr. Michael Gunn, 5604 N. Antioch, K.C., MO 64119 representing Mr. Sam Blasco informed the Mayor and Board that Mr. Blasco was doing some redecorating of his restaurant and hoped to be open within 30 days or even before that time. The Mayor had explained the reason for wanting to know what they had planned to do so that the liquor license could be handled accordingly. Mr. Bernie Vulgamott talked to the Mayor and Board informing them that he still would like to open up his basement for the public and would appreciate the City giving this more thought and consideration. A letter from the Federal Emergency Management Agency dated November 23, 1981, was read, this pertained to the Floodway Area east of N.W. Gateway and Line Creek. (Copy of letter attached). Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-81-39 being bill authorizing the purchase of realty and authorizing the execution of Sale Contract be placed on its first reading, seconded by WeS~,,t,, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, ~,~ Holmes and Campbell voted aye; Scudder absent. Said Bill was accordingly read. (peeler abstained) West moved that Bill No. D-81-39 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, ~^~; Holmes and Campbell voted aye; Scudder absent; said Bill was accordingly read. (Peeler abstained). Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-81-39 be placed on its third reading _ and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. D-81-39, seconded by West the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, , Holmes and Campbell voted aye; Scudder absent; said Bill was accordingly read attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and ~iecame Ordinance No. D-81-39. (Peeler abstained). Holmes reported that the Zoning Adjustment Board at its last meeting recommended approval of the less than Zoning Ordinance requirements for Page 2 - Reg. Minutes - December 1, 1981 the building which Grogan had presented an application to build on the back of his property at 5717 High Drive. A copy of the Zoning Adjustment Board Meeting is attached hereto. A letter from Americn Cable Vision, dated December 1, 1981, was read, wherein they stated they thought they could start laying the cable in January, 1982. Ken Vaughn of Larkin and Associates indicated that the preparation of plans to send out for bids on the improvement of drainiage of Riverside Drive would be approximately $5,000. City Attorney Don Witt will try to work out an ordinance on the abandoned buildings and property. Chief Wingo advised that there were two people graduating from their school on December 4, 1981, namely Cleveland Woods and Dennis Stratton and recommended that these men be employed as Reserve Public Safety Officers. Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-81-40 being bill setting out the salary of Glenn Hohimer be palced on its first reading, seconded by Peeler, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Peeler Holmes and CAmpbell voted aye; Scudder absent; said bill was accord- ingly read. Rodeberg moved that bill No. D-81-40 be placed on its second reading, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and CAmpbell voted aye; Scud- der absent; said billw as accordingly read. West moved that Bill No. D-81-40 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. D-81-40, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rode- berg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; Scudder absent; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and became Ordinance No. D-81-40. It was announced that the City's Christmas Party would start with the lighting of the lights in front of the City Hall building at 5:00 p.m. on December 13, 1981, and then the party would start on the Union Hall at 6:00 p.m. The Mayor and Board went in executive session. A recess was then called. The meeting reconvened, the roll was called and West, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell were present, Scudder absent and Mayor Brenner presiding over remainder of meeting. City Attorney Don Witt is to write Bill Woodside concerning his building which weas built without a permit. There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 1:00 a.m. December 2, 1981. c: (~~Y~/1t~C
