HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-07-21' MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI JULY 21, 1981 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, on July 21, 1981, at 7:30 p.m. On a roll call, aldermen West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Campbell were present, Holmes absent; and Mayor Brenner calling said meeting to order. Minutes of July 7, 1981 were read and approved as corrected. Mr. Robert Gieseke inquired regarding the repairing of the roads in the bottoms (Mattox and VanDePopulier Street). He was advised that this was on the agenda and an estimate was received concerning the sealing and chipping of the two roads. The dirt fill at the Western Pic Plaza was discussed and this matter is to come before the Planning Commission. They are to remove every- thing which they filled except they can leave not more than 1". A letter was received from the Platte County Health Department con- cerning 5011 Merrimac's sewer condition, this was an emergency and it had to be repaired. A letter from the Platte County Health Department dated July 15, 1981, concerning the sewage condition on 50th Street was read. It was suggested to give the letter to City Attorney Don Witt. A letter from Jeremiah D. Finnegan dated July 8, 1981 concerning the Missouri Cities Water Company's request for increase in water rates was read and also his bill proportioning same to different cities he represented was enclosed. It was agreed to place said bill in the sum of $1894.66 on our disbursement ord~~iyynance. Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-81~~'.~` being bill providing for the appropriation of money out of the general fund of the City of Riverside, Missouri be placed on its first reading, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, and Campbell voted aye; Holmes absent; said bill was accordingly read. West moved that Bill No. D-81=23 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Campbell voted aye; Holmes absent; said bill was accordingly read. Scudder moved that Bill No. D-81- be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. D-81-23, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, and Campbell voted aye; Holmes absent, said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and became Ordinance No. D-81-~3. ~~ Mayor Brenner suggested that Rodeberg, Scudder, West and Betty Burch study the health insurance program. Reg. Meeting u Page 2 - July 21, 1981 A discussion was had regarding ELKA Enterprise's building applica- tions. A recess was called. Meeting reconvened. The roll was called and West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Campbell were present; Holmes ab- sent, and Mayor Brenner preciding over remainder of meeting. Peeler moved that Mr. Brown ~f,,,EL~~F~rprises be advised tht the 15' off-set on his building p s he flood-way and cannot be approved; that he please submit a new set of plans, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Campbell voted aye; Holmes absent. The Mayor and Public Safety Committee recommended to the Board that William B. Palmer be employed as Public Safety Officer. West moved that Bill No. D-81-~4 being bill employing William B. Palmer as Public Safety Officer in the City of Riverside be placed on its first reading, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, and Campbell voted aye; Holmes absent; said bill was accordingly read. s Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-81 ~c be placed on its second reading, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Campbell voted aye; Holmes absent; said bill was accordingly read. 5 Scudder moved that Bill D-81 ~ be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. D-81-24, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Campbell voted aye; Holmes absent; said bill was accordingly read attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and became Ordinance No. D-81-~k: o~ ~ Scudder advised that he had submitted the appropriate form to secure financial aid on Northwood Road improvement. Peeler and Campbell of the Road Committee received estimates on the improvements of certain streets in Riverside. A discussion was had concerning the signs, mostly those which should be taken down. Scudder moved that the City accept the recommendation of the Planning Commision to establish a zone for a certain tract of land as de- _. scribed on the attached to be commercial and that same be Bill No. D-81- 252~and placed on its first reading, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler and Campbell voted aye; Holmes absent; said bill was accordingly read. The Mayor and Board gave permission for same, be be supervised by Firework Experts. There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed meeting adjourned at 12:20 p.m., July 22, 1981.
