BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF
JULY 15, 1980
- A regular meeting of the board of aldermen of the City of Riverside
Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside on July 15, 1980, at
7:30 p.m. Those present were Aldermen West, Rodeberg, Peeler and Camp-
- bell; Scudder and Holmes absent, Said meeting was called to order by
Mayor Brenner.
The minutes of July 1, 1980, were read and approved as corrected.
Homer McKeehan, 4555 Highdrive, presented application for an addis
tion to the existing storage building on the back of his property, this
would be a 6'4" x 10' addition.
Said application was approved subject to the payment of the fee.
Cerltrbl Sim Industries had five sib applications ( 3 for Rivernnrrt A}iartments
and 2 for Chateau D'Mons).
West moved that two of the signs applications for the Rivermont
Apartment which are to be placed on the Rivermont Property be approved,
seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows:
West, Rodeberg, Peeler and Campbell voted aye; Scudder and Holmes absent,
It was decided to table the other three applications until the
next meeting and one of the Sign Company's representatives should be
notified to be present.
Joan Cereto and Virgina Louise Lee 5911 N. Bales, K. C., Mo. 64119,
inquired with regard to the application for liquor and business license
for a Country Western entertainment business in the old Pizza building.
Chief Wingo reported that he had done research on the businesses
operated in the manner in which this Country Western would be and that
he got reports that they had no particular problems. However Chief Wingo
reported that since the Pizza had been closed that this had given the
policemen in Riverside more time to concentrate on other problems in
Riverside and this has cut down on a considerable amount of
crimes in the City. Therefore, he did not recommend approval of the
application and suggested that same be denied.
Rodeberg moved that on the basis of Chief Wingo's report that the ap-
plication of Virginia Louise Lee be denied, seconded by West, the roll
was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Peeler and Campbell
voted aye; Scudder and Holmes absent.
Mayor Brenner announced that the Platte County Mayors' Committee
meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. on July 17, 1980, at the Platte Woods City
Hall. One of the topics on the agenda would be to pick out what should
be discussed at the future meetings.
Freddie D. Mynatt, 5000 SW Kalivas Circle, Apt. 94, Riverside,
Mo. presented application for license to operate the Silver Fox. The
application was discussed and he advised that considerable remodeling
on the inside would be done. The Board suggested certain items would

have to be corrected before any consideration could be given for
approval of the application. Some of the items were listed on the applica-
tion. They are to return to the next meeting.
A letter from Mayor John J. Hamilton of City of Macon, MO., dated
July 7, 1980, was read. This concerned an appeal to us to help with
the "Waste Dumps", in controlling same. This letter will be acknowledged.
Rodeberg moved for adoption of resolution revoking Silver Fox
liquor license issued by the City of Riverside, seconded by West, the
roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Peeler, and
Campbell voted aye; Scudder and Holmes absent.
Rodeberg reported that information has been received from the
Census Bureau giving the following information:
1970: 2,123 population
1980: 3,168 - increase of 49.2%. Total Housing Units: 1474.
The City of Riverside's own taking of Census are as follows:
1980: 3,238 population and 1526 units.
The City has 10 days in which to file a protest should they not want
to accept the Census Bureau figures.
The Mayor and Board extended their thanks to Loo Rodeberg and the follow-
ing people who helped her in taking the census: Jean Grogan, LooAnn
Layton, Rita Cox, Ruth Collier, Betty Burch, Brenda Teters, Kay Bright
and Chief Wingo for a job well done.
Chief Kearns of South Platte Fire Protection District wrote a
letter to the City, dated July 15, 1980, thanking the City for partici-
pating in the July 4 Platte Contest.
Chief Wingo announced that Lawrence Ben Maxon, Police Officer
was resigning, for the reason that he will be continuing his education.
Chief Wingo announced that there were 13 fires on the 4th of July,
(fire works related with the exception of one which was arson).
Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-80-21 being bill providing for
the appropriation of money out of the general fund of the City of River-
side, Missouri for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein,
be placed on its first reading, seconded by West, the roll was called
and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Peeler, Campbell voted aye;
.Scudder and Holmes absent, said bill was accordingly read.
West moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. D-80-21 be placed
- on its second reading, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and
votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Peeler, Campbell voted aye; Scud-
der and Holmes absent; said bill was accordingly read.

Rodeberg moved that Bill No. D-80-21 be placed on its third reading and
upon passage of same become Ord. No. D-80-21, seconded by Campbell, the
roll was called and votes were as follows: West, Rodeberg, Peeler and
Campbell voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and
made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and became Ordinance No.
D-80-21.
There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded
and passed, meeting adjourned at 9:42 p.m.
