BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI
JULY 1, 1980
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside,
Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on July
1, 1980, at 7:30 p.m. On a roll call, aldermen West, Scudder, Rodeberg,
Peeler, Holmes and Campbell were present, Mayor Brenner calling
said meeting to order.
The minutes of June 17, 1980 were read and approved as corrected.
Bill Schull, attorney, representing R. M. Maupin and L. K. Cummins
of Cosmos spoke to the Mayor and Board with regard to their having
worked out the problems previously discussed. Mr. Schull advised
that Messrs. Maupin and Cummins were screening the people entering
the Cosmos, he also advised that they had 144 parking spaces which
appeared ample for their customers.
Chief Wingo said he would not hesitate to recommendiwacael-
renewal of the liquor and occupation licenses if they continue to operate
as during the-.past two weeks.
Scudder moved that the Liquor and Occupation Licenses be renewed
for the Cosmos, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were
as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell
voted aye,
Joan Cereto (Real Estate Sales Person) and Virginia Louise Lee,
5911 N. Bales, Kansas City, MO 64119, inquired again with regard
to their obtaining a liquor license for the Pizza Building.
__ They brought drawings showing parking area, stated that they would
be open only six days a week and not on Sunday, and they would do
lots of remodeling inside of the. building. This matter was discussed.
(Attorney Jack Norton also was present representing Warren Brenner's
interests).
Further consideration will be given Virginia Lee's application and it will
be tabled until the next meeting.
Peeler brought up the matter of appropriate signs for the places
selling liquor.
Bill Bright, Planning Commission Chairman said that there was
a hearing on the area located on NW Gateway which had not been zoned.
It was decided to table the decision. There would be another hearing
on rezoning of property on July 24, 1980, this would be the Newmeyer
and Yearington's property.
Scudder moved that we accept the changes brought out by the
chairman of the Planning Commission, seconded by West, the roll was
called and the votes were as follows; West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler,
Holmes and Campbell voted aye.
Scudder moved that Bill No. 80-20, being bill setting out certain
typographical errors in the Zoning Ordinance be placed on its first read
ing, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows:

accordingly read.
West moved that Bill No. 80-20 be placed on its second reading,
seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows:
West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye; said
bill was accordingly read.
Rodeberg moved that Bill No. 80-20 be placed on its third reading
and upon passage of same become Ordinance No. 80-20, seconded by Scudder
the roll was called and votes were as follows; West, Scudder, Rodeberg,
Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye. Said Bill was accordingly read,
attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Brenner and
became Ordinance No. 80-20.
The Planning Commission thought that the City should have a build-
ing inspector. This matter was discussed. It was decided to countact
the County to see if their inspector could do the City's inspecting
too.
A recess was called. The meeting reconvened. The roll was called
and West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell were present,
Mayor Brenner preciding over remainder of meeting.
Mayor Brenner announced that Rodeberg did not want to supervise
the Fall Festival this year. He met with Dick and Jeanne Grogan and
asked if they would supervise the Fall Festival and they had agreed
-- to do so.
It was announced that there were no other bids received on the
1953 Seagraves Fire Truck. Peeler contacted Wigglesworth and Arrow
to see if they were interested and they are to contact Peeler if they
are.
West moved that since we advertised the 1953 Seagraves Fire Truck
for sale to the highest bidder and to date we received no formal bids,
if no higher bids are received by July 9, 1980, we will accept the
highest bid, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were
as follows: West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted
aye.
Rodeberg said she received a letter from Oxner, Hair and Hair
advising that should we want a recount on the census of the City, that
they would be willing to make the count. It was decided to wait until
we received the official count from the Government before any commitment
is made for a new count.
It was announced that a letter was received from Lee Ann Zimmerman,
-%"904 Valley Lane, dated June 28, 1980, concerning Cable TV. This matter
is to be turned over to the Public Relations Committee.
West read a letter dated June 24, 1980 from the United States
Department of Justice; Federal Prison System, Community Treatment Center
`- pertaining to the excellent manner in which Detective Phillip and Of-
ficers Gilbert and Odom investigated a certain case and expeditiously
all inquiries their department had concerning this case.

Chief Wingo informed the Mayor and Board that a letter was sent
to Mr. Daniels pertaining to the abandonment of the liquor license
at the Silver Fox and he failed to appear before the Board and also
failed to respond to the letter concerning the hearing.
There being no further businesses, upon motion made, seconded
and passed, meeting adjourned at 10:27 p.m.
