BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF
CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI
June 3. 1980
A regular meeting of the B rmen of the City of Riverside,
Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, on June 3, 1980, at
7:30 p.m. On a roll call, Aldermen West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler,
Holmes and Campbell were present, Mayor Brenner calling said meeting
to order.
The minutes of May 20, 1980, were read and approved as corrected.
Ronald Hall, 2899 57th Terrace, K.C., Mo., presented application
for license for SHO ME BODY WORKS, 4141 Riverside Drive. This is an
auto body repair business. Said application was approved subject to
the payment of the fee.
Ms. Robert Miller, Miller Fireworks, Box 138, DeKalb, MO 64440, pre-
sented application for fireworks at Harry's Outlet, 4335 N.W. Gateway
the size of the area for selling fireworks would be 20'x6'. This was
approved subject to their securing and furnishing the City Clerk with
the state sales tax certificate for selling fireworks at the City of
Riverside's address and payment of the fee plus deposit.
John Blogin, 4001 South Drive, presented application for selling
fireworks at 2800 West Platte Road, said application was approved subject
to the payment of the fee. His sales tax is for Riverside's address.
Ed Famuliner, 413 Stratford, Lee Summit, presented application
for selling fireworks at 2401 W. Vivian Road, the area would be 28'
x 56'. Said application was approved subject to his securing and furnish-
ing to the City Clerk with the State Sales Tax Certificate for selling
fireworks at the Riverside's address, and payment of the fee plus deposit.
Wilbur E. Martin, 14822 E. Nickel, Independence, MO. presented
application for selling fireworks at 1920 West Platte Road, the area
would be 40'x20'. This was approved subject to his securing and furnish-
ing the City Clerk with the State Sales Tax Certificate for selling
fireworks at the City of Riverside's address:, and the payment of fee
plus deposit.
The Knights of Columbus, 7505 N. Kensington, K.C., MO. presented
application for selling fireworks at 4444 N.W. Gateway. The area would
be 20'x14'. This was approved subject to the payment of the deposit.
They will also have to furnish the City the Knights of Columbus Certifi-
cate - this is for tax purposes.
Al Manning, 11310 W. 74th Street, Shawnee Mission, KS. had applica-
tions for two fireworks licenses, one at 2504 West Platte Road (40'x20')
and at 2708 West Platte Road (30'x20'). These were approved subject
to the payment of the fee and payment of the deposit. He has the River-
side address for Sales Tax Purposes.
E. H. Young, Box 9014, Riverside, Mo. had an application for selling
of fireworks at 2401 West Platte Road. The area would be 80'x40'.
This was approved subject to the payment of the fee plus payment of
-deposit. He has the Riverside address for Sales Tax Purposes.

Betty Payton and Harrison Norton, her attorney, inquired of the
Board regarding the liquor license for the Cellar Bar. They were advis-
ed that the cancellation of the present license would have to go through
the legal formality, and that Betty Payton would have to complete the
application which would have to be approved by the Board.
A letter of May 16, 1980 from T. H. Stahl was read concerning Fairfax
Airport. This matter was discussed and it was decided that the City
should get together whatever information which they would like to be
relayed on to MARL concerning this matter and then compose a letter
to be sent to Mr. Stahl.
Tom Hannowalt, 512 N. W. Cherokee Drive, Indian Hills Third Addition
presented application for uility building 16'x16'. This was recommended
for approval by the Planning Commission. This application was approved
with the following notation on the application: "Owner has read and
understands the Indian Hills Third Addition Subdivision restrictions
and assumes any and all responsibility and liability".
The matter of the computer equipment in the Public Safety Department
was discussed (whether to continue as is at the present time or to
rent on a monthly basis). It was decided to look into this matter
further and decide at a later date. Bob Scudder and Jerry Wingo are to
do the research on this project.
William- Latta was present to discuss the sports complex with the
Mayor and Board and wanted to know what the situation was at the prsesent
time. The matter of Mattox Road, policing the project, the selling
of liquor, etc, was brought up. These things would have to be worked out
before permission would be granted for the complex.
West moved that the matter of the sports complex be tabled, second-
ed by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: West,
Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell voted aye.
Winston Peeler is to meet with William Latta and go over the list
of items which would have to be solved before permission for the build-
ing of the complex was given.
A recess was called. Meeting reconvened. The roll was called
and West, Scudder, Rodeberg, Peeler, Holmes and Campbell were present,
Mayor Brenner preciding over remainder of meeting.
Winston Peeler advised that during the last heavy rain, he went
to Ilan Hills to look over Ron Oberle's complaint regarding water
running across his yard during heavy rains, and could not find the
situation as reported by Oberle.
Peeler reported that he contacted the Highway Department with regard
to mowing their rights of way more often and was informed by that De-
partment that they did not have enough money allocated to do mowing
more often than they had been doing« (Three times a year).
The Mayor and Board thought it would be a good idea to review
all the liquor licenses and the occupation licenses which go with
- them before their renewal -- if this is possible at this date.
It was brought out that the City should adopt a fire code if
it does not have one.

There will be a budget hearing on Revenue Sharing June 17,1980.
There being no further businesses, upon motion made, seconded
and passed, meeting adjourned at 11:35 p.m.
