HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-12-18r MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI DECEMBER 18, 1979 ' ~ A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on December 18, 1979. On a roll call, aldermen Holmes, Peeler, Rode- berg, Brenner, Scudder, and West were present, Mayor Young calling said meeting to order. Minutes of December 4, 1979, were read and approved as corrected. Larry Cummings, 11911 N. Illinois, K.C.,MO., representing Comos Association, presented application for remodeling the Cosmos at_4301 N.W.Gateway, also attorney David Stockwell was with him. They are to come back with arachitect's plans. ( - ~an-)• t~~ A letter was read from the ,Special Road District. West moved that Bill No.79-33, being bill providing for the appro- priation of money out of the general fund of the City of Riverside, for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein be placed on its first reading, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Holmes, Rodeberg, Brenner, Peeler, Scudder and West voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Scudder moved that Bill No. 79-33 be placed on its second reading, seconded by West, the rollw as called and votes were as follows: Holmes, '-eeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder and West voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Brenner moved that bill No. 79-33 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ord. No. 79-33, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Holmes, Peeler, Rode- berg, Brenner, Scudder and West voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, approved by Mayor Young, attached hereto and made a part hereof. Mr. Latta presented a report written by Johnson, Brickell Mulcahy and. Associates with regard to his sports complex. This matter was discussed. Mr. Latta stated he would appreciate any recommendations or suggestions for this complex, as he is in a hurry to start on it. An expression of appreciation and thanks was given to Mrs. Rode- berg by the Mayor and Board for the great Christmas Party she planned. The matter of the charges by the Towing people was discussed. It was suggested that the license remain as they are, issuing them every six-months. West moved that Bill No. 79-34 being bill amending the Alcohol Beverage Code of the City of Riverside, Missouri, be placed on its first reading, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Holmes, Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Sucdder and West votred aye; said bill was accordingly read. Scudder moved that Bill No. 73-34 be placed seconded by Brenner, the roll was called and votes Holmes, Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder and bill was accordingly read. on its second reading, were as follows: West voted aye; said _. ___.1 Minutes of Meeting Dec. 18, 1979, ,_ 'Page 2 Rodeberg moved that Bill No. 79-34 be placed on its third reading upon passage of same become Ord. No. 79-3 ~, seconded by Brernner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Holmes, Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder and West voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, approved by Mayor Young, attached hereto and made a part hereof and became Ordinance No. 79-3°.~. Brenner moved that the Ddirector of Public Safety be the Liquor Commissioner, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes. were as follows: Holmes, Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder and West voted aye. Scudder moved that the City accept the recommendation of Public Safety Officer Wingo to employ the following reserve Firemen: Dennis Stratton Gary Vetter James Earhart Robert Long Jeffry James Richard Deaton seconded by Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Holmes, Peeler, Brenner, Rodeberg, Scudder and West voted aye. Brenner recommended to the Board that within the next 12 months that the City purchase so many fire hydrants and to set up a meeting with Mr. Williams of the Missouri Cities Water Department. There being no further business, upon motion made and passed, meeting adjourned at 10:55 p.m. ~~,:: m~L Bill No. 79-34 Ordinance No. 79-34 An ordinance amending Section 2 of the Alcohol Beverage Code of the City of Riverside, Missouri. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: That Section 2 of the Alcohol Beverage Code of the City of Riverside be amended as follows: ' The duties of the Commissioner shall be assumed and carried out by the Board of Aldermen or their assigns. That the Liquor Commissioner shall be the Board of Aldermen or the Director of Public Safety if such authority be delegated to him. The Board of Aldermen shall be the Local Liquor Commission of the City of Riverside, Missouri. The Liquor Commission is authorized to designate the Director of Public Safety as Liquor Commissioner, if they so desire. The Board of Aldermen shall be the Local Liquor Commission of the City of Riverside, Missouri or the Director of Public Safety if such authority be delegated to him. The Director of Public Safety is authoriz- ed to receive and review applications for liquor license and make his recommendation to the Board of Aldermen relative to the termination or suspension of liquor license as provided by this Code.
