HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-02-06MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI, FEB. 6, 1979 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on February 6, 1979, at 7:30 p.m. Un a Roll call, aldermen Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam were present, Mayor Young calling said meeting to order. The Minutes of January 16, 1979, were read and approved as corrected. Larry Johnson, 7329 Troup, Kansas City, Kansas, presented application for d/b/a/ Pro-Tect Research, at 2646 West Platte Road (Trailer Sales building). Said application was approved subject to the payment of the fee. Steve Rogers, RR#24, Box 82, Parkville, Missouri, presented application for S&K Body Shop, at 4322 NW Gateway (building behind Bill's D-X). Application was approved subject to the payment of the fee and he was notified that the City would from time to time inspect the premises as to the condition of same. He said he would keep all his cars behind the fence and could have about 20 cars behind the fence. -- The matter of Karen Martin's Beauty shop opea~stionin her house was brought up to see if it could be extended another year. There appeared to be no objection - beaut~r shop operation in house may be extended another year. Woodside G~instruction Company's business license renewal was brought up since he is to be considered every year due to the fact that he is operating out of a non-conforming building. The license was extended another year. appreciatio A letter was read from the JC's expressing their thanks and for allowing their operation of the Unscary House. Letters were read from a Riverside Citizen and R. W. Harmon & Sons expressing their appreciation of how well the snow: was removed from the City streets and their good condition during the past snows. Mayor Young advised that he and David Brenner had attended a meeting at the County Court with Mr. Satterlee of the Highway Department and it was bEOUght out that under a Federal Program, the State was going to make inspection of bridges and railroad crossings and would repair five bridges a year with federal funding. They were also advised that there was federal funding to put up signs at all railroad crossings advising of the crossing ahead. It was figured that these signs would cost the City approximately $5.00 per sign. Alan Caldwell brought the Mayor and Board up to date on the progress being made to get "William M. Black" dredge to Riverside. He has been doing extensive work and has done some investigating as to what would be required to get it to Riverside. There was a question and answer session with regard to this project. The Board suggested that a letter be written to Mr. Meyers of TRailer Home Sales regarding adequate parking area for his building of offices. Bill Scudder moved that/D-79-2 being bill providing for the appropriation of money out of the general fund of the City of Riverside, Missouri to pay Koptronics, Inc. for the generator, the balance of $9,264.00, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Brenner moved that Bill No. 79-2 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Rodeberg moved that Bill No. 79-2 be placed on its third reading and upon passatje of same become Ord. No. 79-2, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, _. Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Young and became Ord. No. 79-2. The Mayor and Board agreed to make a surveyance of VanDePopulpr road and then report back to see what should be made regarding this road the I-~i35 Area. Brenner moved that the City employ Frank Thurman as public safety officer at the salary of $1050 per month, starting February 1, 1979, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows Peeler, Brenner, Rodeberg, Scudder, We$t and Swetnam voted aye. There being no further business, upon motion 3nadeF seconded and passed meeting adjourned. ~ -
