Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Mo.
December S, 1978
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside,
Missouri, was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on December 5,
1978, at 7:30 p.m. On a roll call, aldermen Peeler, Rodeberg, Scudder,
West and Swetnam present, Brenner, absent; and Mayor Young calling said
meeting to order.
The minutes of October 17, 1978, were read and approved as read.
The minutes of October 24, 1978, were approved as read and corrected.
The minutes of November :7, 1978, were read and approved; and the
minutes of November 21,1978, were read and approved as corrected.
Ola S. Poterbin, 7000 Avalon, Parkville, Missouri, presented application
for business license for Olas Beauty Shop at 4435 N.W. Gateway. She inquired
with regard to sign and was advised to come before the Planning Commission.
Said application was approved subject to the payment of the fee.
Leonard L~e~~~~zaf6821 N. Belmoht, Kansas City, Missouri, presented
application bn_ Boy Scout Troop 214, Pleasant Valley to sell Christmas
Trees at Red X Plaza Parking Lot. Said application was approved andthe
fee waived.
Larry Ralston, 8707 N. Troost, Kansas City, Missouri 64115,
presented applications for Ruth Ann's Pastry Delites at 2642 W. Platte
Road P.O. Box 9123, and Dnugh Boy Donuts, 2640 West Platte Road for
business license; said applications were approved subject to the payment
of the fee.
Mr. Cloud, Osage Circle, Riverside, inquired with regard to the repair
of the street, Osage Circle. He was advised that there has been lots of
time spent on this one particular street, including the City Engineer
giving his recommendation for the improvement of same. it was suggested
that there be a meeting with the people involved and see what could be
worked out for the improvement of the street.
Mr. Edmonds came to the meeting and wished to than the City for
improving the street at Green's Trailer Park. The sewer~~rom the Green's
Trailer Park was another matter discussed. It appears that since the
new building has been done onW~st.PGatte~~oad there is an exposed pipe,
and this could possibly cause trouble for someone.
West moved that Don Witt write a letter to the owner of Green's
Trailer Park, with copies to Graham Mark and Donald Myers putting them
on notice of this situation, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and
votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted
aye; Brenner absent; (Witt is to get with Mayor Young to get details).

A recess was called. Meeting reconvened. The roll was called and
Peeler, Rodeberg, Scudder, West and Swetnam present; Brenner absent; and ~'
Mayor Young presiding over remainder of meeting.
It was broug'~}~a~~l~ that the agreement with the Water Company to install
a line which would t e City Hall to connect to the Sprinkler System to be
installed had not been consummated. Mayor Young is to meet with Don Witt
to discuss this matter.
Mr. Herzog inquired what the City had decided on regarding his
selling beer at his place of business. This matter was c~isaussed and ~Y'-.
it was decided to table the matter until all the aldermen were present
before making any decision. The Mayor and Board are also going to

by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg:;.
Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; Brenner absent.
West moved that the City's maintenance engineer be paid $7.50 per
hour for work done away from the City Hall, such as Street repair, salting
streets, weed mowing, etc. and that he be paid the sum of $4.00 per hour
for maintenance of the City Hall Building and around the building, seconded
by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg,
Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; Brenner absent.
Rodeberg moved that five additional lights be placed along the City
Streets as designated by Winton Peeler, seconded by West, the roll was called
and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted
aye; Brenner absent; said motion carried.
There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed
meeting adjourned at 11:30 p.m.
