HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-09-19~~ Minutes of Regular Meeting of Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri September 19, 1978 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of River- side, Missouri, was held on September 19, 1978, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri. Upon a roll call, aldermen Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam were present, Mayor Young calling said meeting to order. Minutes of September 5, 1978,v~ere read and approved. June Foster of B&B Tow Service, presented applicatin to do business at 2627 W. Platte Road. The application was approved with the stipulation that the wrecked cars would be kept behind a screened fence, and to the payment of the fee. Jern Murray, Southern Platte JC`s presented application for Unscary Haunted House at 2249 W.Platte Road, for younger children. There will be approximate 11 to 14 Jc's ~mdcfhdinge:theyr wives) at the place at all times they are open They plan to be open Oct. 20, 21, 22 and Oct. 25 thru 30th, from approximately §:30 to 9:30 or maybe 1/2 hour longer. They also would have a policeman if necessary. The fee was waived as this is a non-profit organization. David Page of the South Clay-Platte JC's presented application to have a haunted house at NW Gateway, just north of Tony's Pizza. the hours would be 7:00 to 10:30 weekdays; and weekends 7:00 to 12:00 midnight or 1:00 a.m., from October 14, thru 31. They will provide sufficient adult supervision and also have necessary policemen if necessary. The fee was waived because of this being a non- profit organization. Robert Grimm, 5206 NE Barnes, K.C. North, presented application to do business in Red-S Plaza - Retail of CB's and Home Stero's. This was okayed subject to the payment of the fee. Mrs. Barbara Fries, d/b/a Barb's Deli, Brenner Ridge Bldg., 4710 NW Gateway, presented application for signs, these were approved ~ugject to the payment of the fee. Mrs. Fries, also inquired as to the procedure she is to take in order to sell liquor. John Hucke, Architect, presented application and drawings for building (preliminary plans) to be used as ~hblesale and retail of export and import items. These plans were discussed and since they were not complete it was necessary to table the matter. (These plans pertained to the area where Mike's Toys and Fireworks business ~s). Ralph 5chmode, 5101 NW Gateway, presented application for business building across from Skyline Inn on NW Gateway. Theseplans were discussed. West moved that these be approved subject to the receipt of final sight deveopment plan, showing drainage and parking spaces, and that a rendition showing brick front construction and showing the addition of the porch, seconded by Brenner, the roll was called and Regular Meeting Page 2, Sept. 19, 1978 votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, and West voted aye; Swetnam Nay (because thiere is too much involved in the plans to be completed). B. C. Zacharias, 5500 Scandia La~1`e, K.C., MO., presented application for douse to be built, (5003 Nortl,~eai°e Drive). These plans were approved, subject to the payment of the fee. Lowell Hickmann, Jr., 6009 N. Jefferson, Kansas City, Missouri presented applicatmn for house at 3601 NW 50th Street, the plans were approved subject to the payment of the fee. A recess was called. Meeting reconvened. Roll called, Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam present. Mayor Young presiding over remainder of meeting. Mr. Stahl spoke low flying aircrafts he had done and inve several other things shortly, after these Mayor. to :.the Mayor and Board with regard to the landing in Fairfax. He stated the things that stigation which was done in this line. There were he had to do and was going to do these very :.were accomplished, he would get back with the Brenner reported that he and Peeler talked with Rieneke and this pertained to the improving of Northwood Road. They would be willing to improve it from the north end, however, they had no funds left, and if Riverside would pay the amount, then they would reimburse the City after the First of the Year,(1979j. The matter is to be handled by Brenner and Peeler. The party owning the property on the Sou~~ end of Northwood Road is to be contacted to see if they are willing to have the road on their property. Also a letter is to sent to the Special Road District setting out the procedure to be taken with regard to improving the north end of Northwood Road. Rodeberg moved that the 600' of Green's Trailer Road be graded, shot and chipped, seconded by Peeler, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, Swetnam and West voted aye. Brenner, moved that Bill No. 78-19, being bill providing for the appropriation of money out of the general fund of the City of Riverside, Missouri, for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein to - be placed on its first reading, seconded by Peeler, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam rooted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Regular Meeting Page 3, Sept. 19, 1978 Brenner moved that Bill No. 78-19 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Scudder moved that Bill No. 78-19 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ord. No. 78-19, seconded by Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; said bill was accordingly read attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Young and became Ord. No. 78-19. 'I"he matter of Emergency Generator System was discussed, Gary Hohimer received several bids and a few other bids are to be coming in. idlest said the Mayor and Board wanted to compliament Loo Rodeberg snd°hll~~tho~~.r~xhoworked on the Fall Festival to make it the success it was. there being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed, ;meeting adjourned at 12:30 a.m.
