HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-05-04' A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI MAY 4, 1978 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on May ~, 1978, at 7:30 p.m. Upon a roll call, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, F7est and Swetnam were present. Peeler absent this portion of meeting. Mayor Young calling said meeting to order. Minutes of April 18, 1978, were read and approved as corrected. Paisel Selthatut, 4812 Homstead, Kansas City, Missouri 64051, presented application to open Peter Lee Restaurant at 4711 N.W. Vivian Road, Riverside, MO. 64151. Said application was approved. He was advised by the Board that should he want to change any signs on the building or the premises, he would have to go before the Planning Commission with his request. Peeler present this portion of meeting. Floyd Best, 3404 Cerrito Lane, Riverside, presented application for building a garage at his residence. Said application was approved. These plans were recommended for approval by the Planning Commission. William Morrison presented plans for David A. Kitchell, 411 N.W. 81st Street, N. K.,.Mo. for house on Merrimac, Northwood Subdivision. These plans were recommended for approval by the Planning Commission. The Board approved the plans. Mr. Morrison was given a map to show the route the concrete trucks and any other trucks carrying heavy loads to the building site should take. Mr. A. Brown, 322 Woodland, Riverside, advised that about five years ago, one of the utility companies had dug across the street a short distance from his house and the area has settled and every time trucks go over the area, it vibrates hishouse. He would like to see the area repaired. This was discussed and it was decided that this would be repaired as soon as material could be gotten. Mayor Young reported that a letter had been received from Kansas City Water Department advising that there would be an increase in the sewer charge. Mayor Young reported that there was $7389.85 in the Parkville Special Road District fund as of this date. Mayor Young reported that there would be an increase in the Blue ,~ Cross - Blue Shield Insurance rates. `~~ ~t~r-~.~ Gerald W. Wright, presented application for house on South Head.. said application was approved. This application was recommended for approval by the Planning Commission. The price of business cards printed are as follows: 250 - $13.75; 500 - $17.35. This matter was discussed. Reg. Meeting Page 2, May 4, 1978 Brenner moved that the City Order business cards for the mayor and board and city clerk, plus 500 universal cards, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye. Gary Hohimer reported that there were certain types of equipment which could be purchased for the fire department and receive matching funds from the government. A rece$s was called - meeting reconvened the roll: was called and Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam were present, Mayor Young presiding over remainder of meeting. Bill Hedgecock, 5104 N.W. Honker, K.C., Mo. presented application for house - east of High drive on52nd street. These plans were recommended for approval by the Planning Commission. The Board approved the plans. West moved that Gary Hohimer be authorized to employ the Sweeping Company to sweep the hard surfaced streets only at $55.00 per hour not to exceed 15 hours of time, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Peeler, Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye. Mr.S~udder reported as follows: On April 28, 1978, Council members attended a dinner meeting of the Platte County Council of Mayors at Weston, Missouri. Those attending were Loo Rodeberg, John West, Lester Swetnam, David Brenner and Robert Scudder. Matters discussed were the road districts, the Missouri Cities proposed water rate increase and County Clerk taking part of road district money. All members thought the meeting worthwhile." Mr. Scudder also reported as follows: On April 29, 1978, a routine inspection of the places of entertainment in Riverside was made by the Director of Public Safety Gary Hohimer, Mayor Ed Young, and Councilmen Lester Swetnam and Bob Scudder. Inspection team found the lounges, pizza pubs, and bars in good decorum and acceptable condition. One exception was the finding that Cosmos night club had not yet installed the additional fire escape doors as they had agreed to. The team Reg. Meeting Page 3, May 4, 1978 recommends that a letter be sent by the Public Safety Director expressing the requirement for the fire door on an expedited basis. Re-inspection will be accomplished at the end of 30'days to assure that the door is installed. It was suggested that certain size culverts be placed in the drive-ways on new construction and this should be handled as one of the "Must" on the applications before recommended for approval and approval of same.
