HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-03-21 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE " BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OR RIVERSIDE, MO. March 21, 1978 A regular meeting of the board of aldermen of the City of Riverside was held in the city hall in Riverside, on March 21, 1978, at 7:30 p.m. Upon a roll call, aldermen Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam present, Mayor Young calling said meeting to order. Minutes of March 7, 1978, were read and approved as corrected. Donald Myers presented application for new building at 2704 West Platte Road, this building for seven small offices or shops. The matter was discussed. Mr. Myers said he had been before the Planning Commission and this was approved. The Board requested that he make a plot plan and the matter would be discussed further. Mrs. Pat Panijan inquired with regard to the three duplexes south of theirs located at 4825 Homstead Terrace, could something be done about their picking up the trash and cleaning up the place. It was brought out that these places had been sold and the sale would be completed March 27, 1978. The new owner mould be asked to keep it clean and also Gary Hohimer is to notify them to clean up the place. Mrs. Panijan also inquired with regard to the repair of the streets in the area. David Brenner advised that there were fourteen different owners of property there, but he had been repairing the streets and paying for same himself. He said it would be three to four more weeks before any repairs would be done. She said she would be willing to pay a share of the expenses. Mrs. Panijan also inquir ed whether they could excavate some dirt by their property for another parking area, and Brenner informed her there was not enough room, this was the road right of way. Helen Crist, 4816 NW High Drive presented application to demolish the present block house and application to build a new house::at same location. Scudder moved that the City approve the demolition of the block house,: seconding by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye. Scudder moved that the City approve the application for ;the new house subject to the payment of the fee, seconded by Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye. A recess was called. Meeting reconvened. The roll was called and Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam present, Mayor Young presiding over remainder of ;meeting. Donald Myers returned with a plot plan and the matter of his application was discussed furthe r. March 21, 1978 Page 2, Reg. Meeting Best moved that the City approve the plans and issue a building permit to Donald Myers subject to his fulfilling the following regvrements before me starts any of his building above the ground: 1. That a Plot Plan large enough to read with dimensions to scale thereon - 2. The Plot Plan to show the property line or edge of property line in r relation to the edge of the highway and edge of highway and highway's proposed ditch (these meaning edge of highway right of way). 3. Furnish an architect or engineer certificate certifying that the bulding complies with the HUD Flood Insurance Regulations. seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; Mr. Myers advised that he would have the above information to the City within five days. Gary Hohimer is to see that this information is given to each of the aldermen as soon as it is received. Scudder moved that Bill No. 78-9 being bill providing for the appropriation of money out of the general funds of the City of Riverside, Missouri, for the payment of certain indebt~dness.:~as listed therein be placed on its first reading seconded by Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Swetnam moved that Bill No. 78-9 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Best, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Best, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Rodeberg, moved that Bill No. 78-9 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ord. No. 78-9, seconded by Best, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West, and Swetnam voted aye; said bill was accordingly read attached he reto and made a part hereof ap~rbvedwbyoMdyor Young and became Ord. No. 78-9. The City's Clean-Up Project for April 2 thru 8, 1978 was discussed. Gary Hohimer will order the dumpsters, Mrs. Rodeberg will order the dills to be passed out.. If the Boy Scout Troop from Northmoore is not available, the Little League Baseball players are to be contacted to help in the clean- up. Mr. Scudder is to contact the attorney representing the City at the hearing regarding Missouri Cities Water Co. at Missouri Public Service Commission and see what we have to know and information we should bring with us to the hearing -- also confirm the date and time. Gary Hohimer said he ~woltld like to discuss his annual report, how- ever it was thought this could be done at the next Safety Meeting. Reg. Meeting - Mar. 2 /, 1978 Page 3 David Brenner is to look at the roads at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 1978. Gary Hohimer reported that Mattox Road was in very bad condition and some rock was put on it. It is still not in too good condition. Mr. Scudder requested permission to write a letter to Senator Wilson requesting that he get the statute changed so that Hhverside will re ceive 50% of the amount the county receives from the special road district tax paid it. A discussion was had and everyone present was in favor of this. Brenner moved that there beingnno further business that the meeting adjourn --Seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 11:30 p.m. ~~~~~, ~~
