HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-11-01Minutes of Regular Meeting of _ Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri November 1, 1977 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on November 1, 1977, at 7:30 p.m. and upon a roll call, Aldermen Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam were present; Mayor Young calling said meeting to order. The Minutes of October 18, 1977, were read and approved as corrected. Ruth Luka, 9935 W. 60th Terrace, Merriam, Kansas, presented business license application for Riverside Jewelry Outlet at 4434 N.W. Gateway. Said application was approved subject to the payment of the fee. Michael C. Wineinger, 4303 N. Hallview Circe, St. Joseph, MO 64503 presented application for office of Quad Central Housing Corp at 4710 N.W. Gateway; said application was approved subject to the payment of the fee. Bertha Hackman, 412 N. Shoredrive, Lake Waukomis, presented application forShampoodle Shoppe at 4435 N.W. Gateway; said applicat~ was approved subject to the payment of the fee. Ed Fries presented application for house to be built on Lot 8, Block 3, Indian Hills Third Addition. A discussion was had with regard to the road (Cherokee Drive) not having been repaired. Swetnam moved that the application be approved for house to be built on Lot 8, Block 3, Indian Hills Third Addition, seconded by Best, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg-nay; Brenner-nay; Best aye; Scudder-nay; West-nay; Swetnam-aye. Brenner moved that the plans for house on Lot 8, Block 3, Indiana Hills Third Addition be approved one hour after the streets have been repaired and okayed by the City, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg-aye; Brenner-aye; Best-pass; Scudder- aye; West-aye; and Swetnam-pass. Further with regard to this matter, the letter signed by Morton H. Daws and E. L. Fries addressed to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, dated March 15, 1977, whichreads as fdllra~s was read to the Mayor and Board: "Mr. E. H. Young, Mayor, Board of Aldermen, City of Riverside, Riverside, Missouri, Gentlemen: We hereby agree to repair Cherokee Hrive to the satisfaction of the City of Riverside, Missouri, beginning at the western side of Lot twelve, Indian Hills Addition to the end of the cul-de-sac. These repairs are to be completed by October 1, 1977. Dated this 15 day of March, 1977. Signed Morton H. Daws; Signed E. L. Fries." Said letter is attached hereto and made a part of these minutes. A recess was called -- Meeting reconvenened. The Roll was called Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam present; Mayor presiding. Page 2, Reg. Meeting November 1, 1977 - Gary Hohimer recommended that Bill Zerbe be allowed to attend the seminar at University of Missouri, at a cost of $60.00, Scudder moved that a check be issued for Bill Zerbe in the sum of $60.00 fo_~enable him to attend the seminar at the Universidy of Missouri pertaining to criminal statutes and police matters, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes sere as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye. The Board approved the purchase of a Hoover Vacuum Cleaner for the approximate amount of $60.00. Brenner reported on looking at some overhead doors and felt that the 20 and 24 gauge steel would not be satisfactory that the 16 gauge doors would probably be more satisfactory. It appeared that Drexel Noble had completed all the matters with the exception of the doors. Scudder moved that Drexel Noble be paid $10,000.00 of his bill, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; Gary Hohimer reported that the foam insulation was not ins talled as was to be done and that it is in order to deduct $500.00 from the bill. West moved that the City authorize Brenner and Gary Hohimer to enter into an order for the 16 gauge steel insulated doors with three windows, if available, as large windows as practical der the manufacturer's recommendation and weather stripped with full warranty by the supplier, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye. Best moved that no smoking be allowed in the Council Chambers, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows:Rodeberg,Brenner, Best,Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; West read letter from Larkin & Associates and reported on the rates to be charged the city. It was announced that Ivan Ubben wou ld be the person we are to contact. It was suggested to advise them the persons autYo rized to request information from them and that all the information and matters they accumulate of the City of Riverside, is the property of the City of Riverside and to discuss the convenience of occasional pick-up of documents. The Blue Law was discussed. There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned at 11:30 p.m. . .. ,~ S:~u.
