CITY OF RIVERSIDE, MISSOURI
October 4, 1977
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of
Riverside, Missouri, was held in the City Hall in Riverside on
October 4, 1977, at 7:30 p.m. IIpon a roll call, aldermen Rodeberg,
Brenner, Best, Scudder and Swetnam were present. West absent for the
reading of the minutes. SAid meeting was called to order by Mayor Young.
The minutes of September 20, 1977 were read and approved as
corrected.
H. L. Saxton, 4326 N. Wyandotte, Kansas City, Missouri 64].16,
applied for business license for American Samax Company, this would
be just for~gffice purposes only at 2625 West Platte Road (Eli's
Re$taurant Building). Said application was approved subject to the
payment of fee.
Ray Donahue, Jr., 5913 N.W. Westwood, Kansas City, Mo 64151,
North Hills Realtors Inc. applied for business license at 4435 N.W.
Gateway, Riverside, MO. f~ office. Said application was approved subject
to the payment of the fee.
Glen Hohimer presented application for remodeling, said application
wa$ approved subject to the payment of the fee.
Frank Amberson, 9808 N. Harrison, K. C., MO 64158, presented
application for four new houses in Indian Hills, said applicat~rns
were approved subject to the payment of the fee.
Clifford Jackson, 6613 N.W. Hamer Circle Dr., K. C., Mo.
completed application for liquor license at the Silver Fox. The
Police Department completed the investigation and all was in order.
Said application was approved, subject to the payment of the fee.
Lloyd Brown brought in his completed sets of drawings for his
two buildings.
The matter of the completion of the new portion of the City Hall
Building was discussed. The Mayor had talked to Drexel Noble with regard
to this matter and a discussion was had regarding the doors. It was
brought out that the City will have a loss of $3,188.00 should they
decide to exchange these present doors for new steel doors. It was the
consensus of the Mayor and Board that the doors should~'be replaced if
this can be worked out with a minimum loss to the City. Mayor Young
appointed Brenner as a committee ~o work on this project and West
volunteered to be on the committee.
Brenner and Hohimer listed the following items which should be
corrected by Drexel Noble: Apron in cut to drain water off properly;
unpainted portions of the outsmde; floor cracked in 3rd bay; bad
electrical installation; bad installation of cable to parking lot ~.ights.
It was decided to write a latter to Drexel Noble setting out the work
tq be done, requesting that same be done immediately.

West moped that the City write Larkin & Associates advising them
that we would like to use their services and for them to set out the
different rates they charge, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called
and votes were as follows: Rodebert, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and
Swetnam voted aye;
Mrs. Burch is to write the Water Company stating we would like
to have a meeting with them regarding placing fire hydrants.
$renner reported he received the following bids for overlaying
South Arive, Hillside and Merrimac:
Midwest Precote $39,730.00 American Marking and Paving Co. $37,21
Charles E1derAaphalt - $35,330.00; Seal-O-Matic Paving - $33,955.00; the
streets are to be laved 18 feet wide and 3" asphalt, plus the driveways'
aprons.
Gary Hohimer announced that he has another person he would like
permission to employ under CETA - Gary Lee Clarkson, who appears to be
working out well in the classes.
West moved that the City authorize Hohimer to employ Gary Lee
Clarkson under the CETA program for $750 per month to be repaid by
CETA of Platte County and that the city pay other benefits, seconded by
Rodeberg, the roll was called and motes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner,
Scudder, Best, West and Swetnam voted aye.
Hohimer reported on the following bids on carp~~ing for the
City Hall: Tower Carpet Co. $2,644; "(Including ti]Q and carpeting);
Burlington Trading Post - $1,844.2X flpor"covering plus $262.89 for
the - $2,106; Westport Floor covering $2;000 plus $300 for tile=
$2,300; R. U. Mann $1536.90 one one type and $2,089.40 on other type
which wereenot according to specifications.
West moved that Hohimer be authorized to purchase thenifloor
covering material from Burlington Trading Post for $2,106, seconded.

Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye.
Hohimer reported on the following bids on the Formica for the
washrooms and desk tops: Buell Cabinet Co. $553.53; Custom Wood Products
$ 396.25 and Gallery of Kitchens $293.00; American Laminating bid on
3 counters only $220.
West moved that the bid be awardedto Gallery of Kitchens
seconded by Scudder~r the roll was called and votes .ware as follows:
Rodeberg, Brennen, Best, West, Scudder and Swetnam-voted aye;
