A regular meeting of the board of aldermen of the City of River-
side, Missouri, was held in the City of Riverside, Missouri on
September 6, 1977, at 7:30 p.m. Upon a roll call, aldermen Rodeberg,
Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam were present, Best absent; and
Mayor Young calling said meeting to order.
The minutes of August 16, 1977, were read and approved as corrected.
Douglas M. Harney, Operations Manager, Quick-Trip, 6300 W. 51st
Street, Mission, Kansas (362-3700) presented application for liquor l

John Stith, 505 E. 29th Ave., N. K. C., Mo., presented applicatin
for Trim Auto Sales at 4141 N.W. Riverside, Drive, said application
was approved subject to the payment of the fee.
Ken Ketcham presented application for Riverside Furniture Stripping
Shop, 4322 N.W. Gateway - D-X Service (6710 N. W. 70th Place, K. C.,
Mo. 64151 - home address). Said application was approved subject to the
payment of fee.
Dale Ross, 1C~OT Indian Lane, R#25, K. C., Mo. 64150, presented
application for Laundromat at 2904 N.W. Vivian Road, said application
was approved subject to the payment of fee.
Don Meyers, 5039 N. Spruce, K. C „ Mo. presented applica tion for
addition to office at Northside Trailer Sales. It appeared he did not
have the elevation on the application and therefore it was necessary
that he obtain this information.
West moved that the City issue a building permit to Don Meyer
contingent to his complete compliance with the flood plain building
regulations. and that complete plans showing compliance be submitted
to the City Clerk within 10 days from this approval, seconded by
Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg,
Brenner, Scudder, Swetnam and West voted aye; Best absent.
Don Jack reported on the doors installed on the new addition
and gave an estimated price on steel doors - $8287 and $7062 against
the approximate price of the ones installed - $5138. The Mayor and
Board decided to get from Drexel Noble the exact cost of replacement.
Don Jeck is to write Drexel Noble requesting this informattion.
Scudder moved that a certain Resolution (No. 77-1) be passed
with regard to Fairfax Airport, Low Flying Planes, etc. seconded by
'Brenner, the roll was called and votes were es follows: Rodeberg,
Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; Best absent. A copy of

said Resolution t be led to all interested parties - Fairfax Airport,
Senatorp Eagleton~~a~e~ Kansas~C-~it~', Kansas, etc. these are to be

The following bids were received can acoustic ceiling: Parker -$1829.
Ambrose- $1667.; E. J. Cody Co. $1675; Metro Acoustic - $1830,~e$1860 on
3/4"; $1598 on 5/8"; United Acoustic $1783 - 3/4"; $1873 - 2/3" and
$1467 - 1/2".
West moved that the City purchase from United Acoustic at the cost
of $1467 - 1/2", seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was milled and votes
were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye;
Bed absent.
Bids were obtained on the the - howe~r since bids were not
gotten from all companies on the quarry the as well as the ceramic tile,
other bids on quarry the are to be gotten and the lowest bid is to
be accepted.
A recess was called - meeting reconvened.
With regard to the lockers, it was decided to purchase the
used lockers for $25.00 each.
The Board approved the transfer of the electrical switch
equipment for the sum of $3252:15.
~~ The Board approved the repair of the roof by B & B Roofing
for the sum of $3,680.00 ~[~/

Gary Hohimer requested permission to hire two mfor the sum of
$750.00 per month- he said that we.rwere allocated three men for the
sum of 575.00 per month and he asked if they would pay the salary
of $750.00 for wo men and they were willing to do this, this is
Platte County hen the balance could be given to some other City.
Hohimer requested permission to hire Roland Hartman - Rodeberg moved
that the City Hire Ro1'iald Hartman we to be reimbursed by Platte County
the sum $750.00 = employment to begin September 7, 1977, seconded by
Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg,
Brenner, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye; Best absent.
The matter of carp~~ing was discussed and bids are to be secured.
Rodeberg reported on the insurance situation and Jim
advised her that he had checked with five different companies and
the amount we are paying now is the cheapest rate that can be obtained.
T& being no further business, meeting adjourned at 12:04 p.m.

RESOLUTION 77-1
The following resolution was passed at the meeting of the Board
of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missaaffi, September 6, 1977:
BF TT RESOLVID BY THE MAYOR AMID BOARD OF AI~T OF THE CITY OF
RIVIILSII7E, MISSOURI TO WIT:
WHEREAS: Since July, 1976, the residents of Riverside have been aimoyed,
toYmented, harassed, and frightened by very law and large freight carrying
Jet Aircraft over air City, searching for the landing strip of Fairfax
Airport and:
WF)1~F.AS: The peaceful sleep of the people has been frequently interrupted
during the night and with noise levels above 100 decibels and:
WHEREAS: A comber of meetings with the Federal A ~t not P ~s~ relief
and meetings with the manager of Fairfax Airport
and:
WE)EIiF.AS: Large public meetings have been held where the citizens of Riverside,
Northmoar, and Kansas City have expressed their displeasure with the recent
change of operations at Fairfax to Large and jet aircraft and fla~ther meetings
would serve no productive purpose, and:
WE)1~~AS: Previous Federal (ants have been approved far Fairfax without
the preparation of Envirl~mental Impact Statements, which the Aldeza~en believe
should have been required and:
WHIItEAS: The Board of Public Utilities of Wyandotte County is seeking further
grants to provide a study far preparing for frequent and regular flights of
huge cargo aircraft aver the City of Riverside in spite of the objections
of the City: therefare:
We the Mayor and Board of Aldermeiz of the City of Riverside, Missouri, request
beseech, and entreat the t~anorable maobers of the Mid-America Regional Crnmcil
to disapprove Application ~~77-401 and request that Mid-America Regional Ccxmcil
make this letter a pezmanent part of the application.
