Board of Aldermen of the City
of Riverside, Missouri
- April 19, 1977
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside,
Missouri, was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on April 19,
1977, at 7:30 p.m. Upon a roll call, aldermen Best, Scudder, West and
Swetnam were present, Rodeberg and Brenner absent, Mayor Young calling
said meeting to order.
Frank Amberson, 9808 North Harrison, Kansas City, Missouri 64155,
presented applications for two houses to be built in Indian Hills North,
Lot 4 Block 3 and Lot 5, Block 1. Said applications were approved.
June Foster, 4000 N. Jackson Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri,
64117, presented applicatnn for sign permit, for their place of business
at B&B Motors, West Platte Road and Northwest Gateway, Riverside, Missouri.
Said application was approved.
L. W. Cantrall, 1836 N. 66th Street, Kansas City, Kansas who was
with Welch Electrical Sign, Inc. 5636 State, Merriam Kansas, applied
for permit for sign for Skyline Inn. These plans were approved by
the Board, subject to the approval of the Planning Commission.
L. W. Cantrall also inquired with regard to a sign for the restaurant
and he will go to the Planning Commission with this project.
Frank Sparks, 440 North Charlotte, Kansas City, Missouri 64116,
presented application for a sign at his parking area at the Barber Shop,
4316 Northwest Gateway; the sign was approved.
A recess was had. Meeting reconvened.
Don Jack had presented a letter to the Mayor to be signed by him
in order for the Phase I of the sewer project for the City of Riverside
be completed. All the Board members present were in favor of the signing
of the letter.
Gary Hohimer reported on the auction the Police Department had on
Saturday, April 16, 1977. He said that they sold $2250.50 worth of
merchandise or .equipment and that the amount assessed against the cars
for storage was $1775.00, leaving a balance of $477.50 fqr the City.
This money is to be put in the bank under the account marked abandoned
property. The money in that account at the present time is to be transferred
to the regular account.
_ Gary Hohimer reported that the baseball league has not come up with
an insurance policy wherein the City was named on the policy along with
the league, and this matter is to be handled shortly before they start
playing on the field.

West moved that Bill No. 77-6 being bill providing for the appropriation
of money out of the general fund of the City of Riverside, Missouri for
the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein, be placed an its
first reading, seconded by Best, the roll was called and votes were as
follows: Rodeberg and Brenner absent, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam
voted aye; said bill was accordingly read.
Swetnam moved that Bill No. 7'X be placed on its second reading,
seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as folbws: Rodeberg
and Brenner absent; Best, Scudder, west and Swetnam voted aye; said bill
was accordingly read.
Swetnam moved that Bill No. 77-6 be placed on its third reading,
seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes w®ee as follows: Rodeberg,
and Brenner absent; Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam rooted aye; said bill
was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by
Mayor Young and became Ord. No. 77-6.
2'he Board Wanted to increases the pay for the judges and clerks of
election to $2.50 per hour. ~/
There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and
passed, meeting adjourned.
