HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-02-01Minutes of Regular Meeting City of Riverside, February 1, 1977 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of River- side, Missouri, was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on February 1, 1977, at 7:30 p.m. and upon a roll call, aldermen Rodeberg Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam were present, Mayor Young calling said meeting to order. The minutes of January 18, 1977, were read and approved as corrected. Ed Fries, Indian Hills, presented application for permission to build four houses on Cherokee Drive in Indian Hills 3rd addition. The Street, sewer, sight plan easements, etc. were discussed at great length. It was brought out that the street had not been accepted by the City. The Board also wanted Mr. Fries to put in the necessary pipein order to be able to hook into a sewer should a public one be built, in that area. Fries said he realized that the road need some repairs:and was willing to do some repairs. Mayor Young recommended that the City spend the money, approximately $160 to $200 to do some testing to find out the condition of Cherokee Drive, and recommendation of Don Jack to see what it will take to bring the street up to City's specifications. Swetnam moved that the City approve the permits for applications to build houses on lots 11 and 12 in Indian Hills 3rd addition, seconded by Best, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, Best,West and Suer voted aye. Rodeberg moved that the City have Don Jack to proceed to determine the type of base and other things necessary to make an estimate of what it would take to put Cherokee Drive up to City's specifications at a cost of $160 to `5200, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam aye. p~~"West moved that Don Jack break estimate down to only that portion of,,~street that would effect Lots 11 and 12, seconded by Rodeberg, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodelerg, Bren::er, Best, Scudder, Hest and Swetnam voted aye. The above work on Cherokee Drive is being made in order to see what it would cost to bring the street up to City's specifications so that should Fries want to further develop the lots on that street it would be known the amount of bond to accept from Fries so that the street can be put up to specifications after the area is developed. Mr. Fries is to get with Don Jack to work up the sight development plan and it will be completed before any more houses are built, poss ibly within 60 days. A Reg. Meeting ~ Pa a 2, Feb. 3, 1977 ~ A letter request from Riverside Town Houses was read wherein they wanted some street signs and traffic signs in their area. ~2u~' Scudder moved that the city purchase up to eightisigns for the Town Houses/ area, seconded by Best, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, Best, West and Swetnam voted aye. ~ Best moved that the City approve the Clay Platte Association for `, Retarded Citizens to sell Honey Door to Door in Riverside, approximately `~~ March 17, 18 and 19 (the plan is for the month of March) 1977, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, Best, West and Swetnam voted aye. Pete Burns and Barbara Miller spoke to the Mayor and Board regarding regarding starting a JC Chapter in Riverside. What they would like to have is the support of the City, need a resolution to this effect and also the names and addresses of the citizens of the City of Riverside~~ West moved that the Mayor draft the appropriate resolution required to support the JCs and furnish them with names and addresses of citizens, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Scudder, Best, West and Swetnam voted aye. Don Witt wanted to confirm the writing of section 76.27 - ~-2~~ It was brought out it should read that beginning July 1, 1976, the full time policemen shall be entitled to 1/2 day per month,~s to approval of the Director of Safety. Mayor Young reported that Mr. Babcock resigned from the planning Commission and that Mrs. Fleming would consent to be a member in lieu thereof. Mayor Young would like to appoint her as a member. Brenner moved that they approve the aecommendation of the appointment of Mrs. Fleming as a member of the Planning Commission, seconded by Scudder, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Rodeberg, Brenner, Best, Scudder, West and Swetnam voted aye. The matter of the enlarging of Fairfax airport was discussed and it was decided that perhaps meeting should be held and get some guest speakers, this would be studied further and decided at the next meeting. Reg. Meeting Page 3, February 1, 1977 Don Witt suggested_that the City contact Weatherby Lake as they had success in the same type of matter and would possibly know the people to contact. Brenner moved that meeting adjourn, seconded by Scudder, meeting adjourned.
