HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-04-15A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on April 15, _ 1975, at 7:30 p.m. and upon a roll call, aldermen Grogan, Scudder, Swetnam and West were present, Bailey and Vulgamott absent. Mayor Czamanske read the resignation of William G. Bailey as alderman of second ward, and same being dated April 15, 1975, was accepted. The minutes of April 1, 1975, were approved as added to, corrected and read. Immediately prior to the meeting, Bob Scudder took the oath >:~ and was sworn to the office as Alderman of the Second Ward. John West also reaffirmed his oath to the City and both are in good standing with the Board of Aldermen. Bruce Livingston, 4543 Greystone Court, Apartment B., Riverside, Missouri, inquired with regard to salvaging the oil tank which is in Line Creek. This matter was discussed and it was decided that the party to contact wolid be the owner of the tank and that is Winston Peeler or F. F. Filger. Earl Sampson, 66804 N. Bellfountain, Kansas City, Missouri, Two Gateway Center Suite 202, Kans as City, Kansas inquired with regard to inspecting the insurance that the City has and if he could put in a bid and recommend certain types of insurance to the City. He was sizgg~s~d that he contact Gary Hohimer and Ruth Collier with regard to prior insurance and write letter to the City, with copy to Vulgamott. Grogan moved that Bill canvassing the returns of the General Election Held on April 1, 1975, be placed on its first reading, _~second by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Grogan, Scudder, Swetnam, and West voted aye; Vulgamott absent, said bill was accordingly read. West moved that rules be suspended and said bill 75/0 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Grogan, Scudder, Swetnam, and West voted aye; Vulgamott at~sent, said bill Was accordingly read. Minutes of April 15,1975 Page 2 ~._ Swetnam moved that rules be suspended and Bill No:~~~pbe placed on its third reading and upon passage of same, become Ordinance No. seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Brogan, Scudder, Swetnam, West voted aye; Vulgamott absent, said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Czamanske and became Ordinance No. '/5-~~`. A petition with sixteen signatures was received with regard to the improving of Cerrito Lane. This matter was discussed. West suggested that the City Attorney and City Engineer review the status of the property involved in the proposed improvement of the street as set out in the petition. The petition was returned to Mr. Best. It was reported that two people had not paid their licenses for the year 1975 -- Riverside Cleaners and King Disposal. Whatever action necessary is to be taken. The Police Depar tment is to check to see if King Disposal is doing any work or business in Riverside. Swetnam, moved that Bill No./S~~ being bill providing for the appropriation of money out of the general fund ofthe City of Riversad~, Missouri for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein be placed on its first reading, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes ire as follows: Grogan, Scudder, Swetnam, West voted aye; Vulgamott absent, said bill was accordingly read. West moved that rules be suspended and said bill be placed on its second reading, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and w tes were as follows: Grogan, Scudder, Swetnam, West voted aye; Vulgamott absent; said bill was accordingly read. Grogan moved that rules be suspended and said bill be placed on its third reading, and upon passage of same become ordinance, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Brogan, Scudder, Swetnam, and West-voted aye; Vulgamott absent, said bill was accordingly read, attached hereto and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Czamanske and became Ordinance No. ~,5"- //. The matter of members being on certain committees was discussed. _ It was brought. out that all the board members could attend the police committee meetings. This matter would be studied further. However, with regard to the other committees, it was thought it would be the best if the members or the Chairman of the Committees novr retain their same position. It was brought out that the City would have to obtain a Sales Tax Number. Upon motion by Swetnam that section 2.15 of the ordinance with regard to candidacy filing be changed and that only a five day notice need be given, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as follows Grogan, Scudder, Swetnam, Vulgamott and West voted aye; said bill was ~ ag~ordingly °ead. ~./ 5; i ~~ West moved that rules be suspended and Bill No~ be placed on its second reading, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Grogan, Scudder, Swetnam, Vulgamott and West voted aye; said bill was accordingly read. Swetnam moved that rules be suspended and said bill be placed on its second reading, seconded by West, the foll was called and votes were as follows: Grogan, Scudder, Swetnam, Vulgamott and West voted aye; said bill was accordingly read.
