HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-10-15MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE October 15, 1974 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on October 15, _._ 1974, and upon a roll call, aldermen Bailey, Fries, Grogan, Swetnam, Vulgamott and West were present, Mayor Czamanske calling said meeting to order. Minutes of October 8, 1974, were read and approved as corrected. John Blogin presented application for Horse Shed at 4701 South Drive, said application was approved by the Board, subject to the payment of $18.00 for the permit. Larry Meyerkorth, 6701 Eastside Drive, Parkville, Missouri, presented application for liquor license at the Flamii+tg Fondeau. The license would be in Larry Meyerkorth's name only. The Police Department advised that the Police Check has been made and everything checked out okay. Vulgamott moved that upon the completion of the . proper application and payment of the license fee, that the same be approved, seoonded by West, the roll was called and all voted in favor. Some representatives of the Community Fire Association were present and a discussion was had with regard to the Community Fire Association and the letter written to the City of Riverside. The Association advised that there would be a me#ing of the Association on October 24, and the second Thursday in November. The Mayor advised they would plan to attend and also plan for a meeting with the Board of Riverside. Vulgamott was excused for the remainder of the meeting. Don Jack brought out that Mr. Filger's sewer has not been started and that the Board and Mayor felt a letter should be written to Mr. Filger advising that he doesn't have concrete plans for the sewer and when it will be started, then he should appear before the Board on November 5, 1974, advising why he does not have the plans. d(b~ yar~h~~crm IYb, ~~e, N-r µl W. (~ L. J. Verdeber~presented application for business in the Old Club House, this would be the same type of business he has in North Kansas City, Mo. The application was approved subject to the payment of $26.25, for the remainder of the year. Mrs. Colliers was to check with the State with regard to the sales `" tax the businesses in Riverside pay, so that we could have this information by November 5, 1974. The matter of the City purchasing a new fire truck was brought up < and it was decided to put off the answer to this question until the next meeting. Page 2, Reg. Meeting 10-15-74 The matter of putting the tank truck az order for the use in fighting fires was brought up. It was decided that bids should be obtained to repair the truck and this matter would be discussed at the next meeting. West moved that Bill No. 74-30 being bill providing for the appropriation of money out of the general funds of the City of Riverside, Missouri, for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein be placed on its first reading, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and vote e e as follows: Bailey, Fries, Grogan, Swetnam, and West t, Vulgamott absent; said bill was accordingly read. Fries moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 74-30 be placed on its second reading, seconded by West, the roll was called and votes were as fonows: Bailey, Fries, Grogan, Swetnam, West voted aye; Vulgamott absent, said bill was accordingly read. Swetnam moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 74-30 be placed on its third reading, seconded by Fries, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Bailey, Fries, Grogan, Svetnam, and West voted aye; VLilgamott absent; said bill was accordingly read, attached here to and made a part hereof, approved by Mayor Czamanske and became Ordinance No. 74-30: The Trash Buicri.ng ordinance was discussed as to the amending of same. The Sign Ordinance was discussed and the changes in this ordinance would be made so that the same could become ordinance. It was thought that the free standing signs should be not less than 50' apart. That the Bill Board signs could conform to the Federal and State laws. Roof Signs should be 10% of the haighth of the building. It was thought that Lloyd Brown should be authorized to erect the sign that was proposed for the different businesses on Riverside Street. That a letig be written to Mr. Brown, setting out the requirements that he must adhere to in order to erect this sign; that the sign contain the names of 18 businesses and at the top Riverside Plaza; that it be at least 50' south of the pavement of WestPlatte Road; at least 30' west of the pavement of Riverside Street; that the permit be temporary and expires December 31, 1975; that he be responsible for the removal of same at the expiration; that he be responsible for the maintenance and installation of the sign, the motion was made to the foregoing requirements by Fries, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and Bailey and West disqualified themselves from voting, Vulgamott absent; Grogan, Fries and Swetnam voted aye. 2'here being mo further business, upon motion, made seconded and passed, meeting adjourned.
