HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-10-08Minutes of Regular Meeting of Board of Aldermen of City of Piverside, Missouri October 8, 1974 A regular meeting of. the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri, was held in the City of Riverside, Missouri on October 8, 1974, at 7:30 p.m. Upon a roll call, aldermen Bailey, Fries, Grogan, Swetnam, Vulgamott and Westwere present for roll call, Mayor Czamarske absent for roll call and reading of minutes. Said meeting was called to order by Swetnam. Minutes of October 1, 1974, were Yead and approved as read. West gave a resume of the city's budget. Mayor Czamanske summarized the sign ordinance and a discussion was had with regard to different types of signs to be allowed. A suggestion was made with regard to shortening the distance for free standing signs, also certain price signs for service stations for gasoline. Other parts of the sign ordinance were discussed, includ- ing billboard signs, signs on top of buildings and the present signs in the City.. It was brought out that the sign ordinance did have a section concerning temporary signs, such as for "For Sale" signs, "Garage Sales", etc. It was felt by most of the visitors and members of the Board that the 150' distance for free standing signs was too far a distance. A recess was called and meeting reconvened. The remainder of the meeting was with regard to type of tax Riverside should adopt for more income. The Property tax was discussed and it was also brought out that a sales tax would be another way of receiving revenue in the City.
