Regular Meeting of Board of
Aldermen, City of Riverside,
Missouri,
December 11, 1973
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside,
Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on December 11,
1973, at 7:30 p.m. and upon a roll call, aldermen Bailey, Fries, Grogan,
Swetnam, Vulgamott and West were present, Mayor Czamanske calling said
meeting to order.
Minutes of meeting of December 4, 1973, were read and approved as
written, read and corrected.
The purpose of the meeting was to have certain businesses in
the City to comply with certain requirements before the issuance of
1974, occupation license. The owners or managers of the businesses
were notified by letter to appear before the Board on this date.
The letter written over the Mayor's signature was read.
1. Traders Mobile Coach House - Jack Shaw, ~ah~ger for Ed Payton,
4403 N. W. 169 Highway, Riverside, Missouri was present. The Board adV~sed
Mr. Shaw that the trailers parked on Woodland Side and the Highway
did keep people from getting a clear view of the traffic and requested
that these trailers be moved back approximately 10 feet and Mr. Shaw ,
said he would do this. The matter of the old refrigerator truck was
in the area in bacla of the building and Mr. Shaw advised that this
belonged to Mr. Filger. Another matter the Board wanted Mr. Shaw to
do .was to remove the numberous signs which were put up. Mr. Shaw
said he would do this too.
2. S & K Cleaners - Max Ross, 3617 Norwood, Independence, Missouri.
The Board advised the only thing noted was that there was oil spillage
on the ground. It appeared this was coming out of the containers when
the dumpsters were picking up the trasYi. Mr. Ross adased the Board that
he watlld make sure that the containers are completely dry before it is
dumped.
3. Scott Greenhouse - John Scott - The Board just wanted the
appearance cleaned up. John Scott advised that he has a bad situation
along the highway that cars pull over on his area. However, he does
intend to use a little more fill dirt and then intends to black top it.
It was decided to defer the matter to the City Engineer and maybe he
could think of somet3amng to improve the situation.
4. Katz Body Shop. - Mr. Katz - 4307 NW 71 Highway, Riverside, Mo.

It appeared that there were gaite a few junk cars around the area and
the Board wanted these cleaned out. Katz adivsed that he usually has
only about three junk cars and after he has gotten everything out of them
he has them taken away; that the other cars were Jack Millers. Katz
advised that he had several other cars that are runable. The Board
advised Katz that they didn't want him in the salvage business as this
was not zoned for that type of business. Katz agreed that he would
cooperate with the City and he didn't want to run a salvage yard.
The Board advised they would contact Jack Miller for the rest of the
cars to be removed.
5. North-Twin Drive-In. - LuVaughn 11927 East 40 Highway, Independence,
Missouri. The large ditch in front of the propert~Z~was the problem.
Mr. Vaughn advised that they had hoped to have this area developed by
this time; he also said they have plans for this area and their architect
has drawn them up. The Board advised that they had seen the plans.
6. Northside Mobile Homes - George James 602 Spruce, Liberty,
Missouri. The problem seemed to be the number of trailers, there are
used small trailers, used furniture and also debris in the back of the
area. George James agreed that they would limit the number of trailers
to nine, no used furniture and the debris which belonged to the trailer}.
operation would be cleaned up. It was understood the business license
would be issued under these circumstances. The sewer problem would be
worked out later.
7. J. C. Motors, 4444 N.W.Gateway - It appeared this business was
in order.
8. Fata Service Station - Rose Fata, R#24, Box 29, Parkville,
Missouri - The hand pair~ded sign- Mrs. Fata advised she vnuld try to_

9. City Plywood - Dwane Turnbull, 2801 NE 48th Terrace, Kansas
City, Missouri - The Board would like to see the pla ce cleaned up,
would like to have all the material that is out front on the inside.
Mr. Turnbull guaranteed that all the material will be away from the
front~of the building by the first of the year.
10. Kiddie Land - E. H. Young - Advised this is for sale and he
is trying to get rid of it. He will adver£ise it more, and possiblyin
national magazines.
Geary Brewer of 5103 High Drive, Riverside, brought a notice he
had received from the mail carrier with regard to his mail box, and
unless the situation was corrected, the mail carrier would not deliver
his mail. It was understood several people received these notices.
Some of the People did move their boxes to comply. A discussion on this
matter was had.

It was agreed that the Mayor was to contact the Postmaster at Parkville
and try to work this matter out.
The Mayor advised he will notify the man on High Drive to clean up
the garage he has and he is in violation of the ordinance.
There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed,
meeting adjourned.
