OCTOBER 24, 1972 A special meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on October 24, 1972, at 7:00 p.m. and upon a roll call Bailey, Fries, Grogan, Swetnam and Vulgamott were present, Shelton absent; said meeting _ - called to order by Mayor Czamanske. Betty Lee Watkins presented application for license to open e a business - wearing apparel, jewelry - on West Platte Road in Blogin's building, Vulgamott moved that the City accept..-the application, seconded by Grogan, the roll was ®lled, said motion passed. Several matters were brought up by the council - The matter of the steep and narrow road where Northwood comes down toward the outer road of Highway No. 9, thought if it could be widened, then the water would not come down the road as it does not and keeps the road in rough condition. Also the speeders in Indian hills were causing more trouble and it was discussed whether it would be in order to place speed bumps on the street. Another matter was Hydro Conduit was building something, at lease placing (rooting and did not have a building permit. Also Schrock Transfer was building something and it was questionable whether they were within the City Limits of Riverside. The matter of Brown and Cullum's tin building was again _ brought up. It was agreed with regard to the Tin Building of Brown and Cullum, that they be given until November 30 to remove the building or dear it down -- move it out of the City of Riverside. The matter of Katz moving in the building where Pinrod was, that is from Bill Hedgcock's building, where he was painting automobiles.; and it was discovered that he did not apply for a trans fer of business license. The Voll~swagon repair shop was in operation at the place where the party had applied for business license at a prior meeting and was advised no license were to be issued until the building he was operating had plumbing installed and he was to return for his approval of license to operate. *Application for Sewer Hook-up should have been tjotten by The owner of the building for the hook-up for the VW place of business. *Mr. Katz was to be notified that he is to apply for business license. The matter of patching the streets - High Drive and 50th streets wale brought up and Mr. Reinke stated it would be within the next week or 10 days that this could be done. Special October 24, 1972, Page 2, John West is to write or ask Damon Purcell to repair the street in Indian Hills, as Mr. Purcell owns property on both sides of the street. As to Hydro Conduit not having building permit for its building, the company should be treated as all other parties proceeding to doM~truct buildings wit hout permits. With regard to the speeders in Indian Hills, it was thought the best thing to do at the present is to have a police officer clocking the people and prosecute the violators of the speed limit, perhaps the police officer could concentrate on this area thfee days per week for a while and then let up. Another matter was brought up and this was that there was a person living on Merrimac Street and was starting a junk yard, and this should be cleared up.,_~:This matter to be brought to the police department's attention. It was brought up that the Police Department should have a sale on the accumulated automobiles at lest three times a year. A motion was made, seconded and passed that Mr. Hecker be brought up to date for the use of his parking lot for automobiles picked up in Riverside, and that Mr. Hecker bill us once a month for the parking lot. A motion was made, seconded and passed that the Special Road District proceed to widen Northwood Road where it approaches Outer Road to Highway 9, however it is understood that the Special Road District will pay it portion for the work to be done. With regard to the increase of the public utilities a survey of the Board members was taken and there were four of them in favor and one in opposition, one absent. It was thought to advise Don Witt to proceed with the franchise tax ordinance and also the grmss eeceipts tax. It was announced that the Board of Aldermen would have a public meeting on Thursday, November 2, 1972, at 7:30 p.m. in lieu of ~_ the meeting to be held on November 7, 1972. There being no further business, upon motion made, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned.
