HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-03-21Minutes of Regular Meeting of Board of Aldermen City of Riverside, Missouri March 21, 1972 A regular meting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on March 21, 972, at x:00 p.m. and upon a roll call, aldermen Bailey, Layton, Shelton, Swetnam and Vulgamott were present, Fries absent and Mayor Filer callin:~ said meeting to order. Minutes of meeting of March 7, 1872 were read and after correcting that portion that the storm sewer would cost $60,000 with regard to widening and improving High Drive, the minutes were approved as corrected. Mr. Don Jack stated that he thought that the City may be able to get Federal aid on the improvement of HighDrive which would probably be 50~. He stated he has gone over the figures again and same up with the figure of $65,000, for 1/2 if we could get Federal help and that this was cutting down on about everything he could. Mr. Jack spoke with regard to Riverside Towh fuse project and said it was coming along in pretty good shape. He stated that Mr. Hokin was to furnish Mr. Jack with the description of the area in the sewer district and to date he has heard nothing. Mr. Jack reported on Woodland street and wanted it verified with regard to Mr. Filger and Mr. Azorsky paying for the curbing of their portion of the street. Also it was brought out that portions of the Street was lower and that this has to be corrected. Mr. Filger stated he would look over the curbs and let the council know at the next meeting. Johnny Pete Filger applied for business building permit and same was approved for him. the people from Funkhouser Machinery Company explained their proposed plans for building in Riverside and showed their flans for the building and would bring them back at later date when all were completed. Messrs. Malin and PUrdy, attorneys for Mr. Grahamm, spode with regard to Mr. Gra~~a~s desire to have a permit to sell beer on sunday at his place of business, the Fun House Pizza. They presented new ordinances for the Board of Aldermen to look over. This matter would be taken under advisement. Vulgarr~ott moved that Bill providing for the general election to 8e held in the City of Riverside on Tuesday April 4, 1972 for the purpose of electing a Mayes, Marshal, Collector and one alderman from each of the three wards and a Police Court Judge for a two year term or until replaced, be placed on its first reading, seconded by Bailey, the roll was called and Bailey, Layton, Shelton, Swetnam and Vulgamott voted aye; Fries absent, said bill was accordingly read. Layton moved that rules be suspended and said bill be placed on its second reading a~~~~~X~~ seconded by Shelton, the roll was called and vostes were as follows: Bailey,Layton, Shelton, Swetnam and Vulgamott voted aye; Fries absent, said bill was accordingly read. Layton moved that Bill No. D-72-5 be placed on its Pirst reading, said bill providin; for the appropriation of money out of the general fund of the City for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein, seconded by Bailey, the roll was called and votte were as follows: Bailey -Layton,Shelton ~uetnam and Uulgamott voted aye; Fries absent, said bill was accordingly read. Uulgamott moved that rules be suspended and saidlbill be placed on its third reading and upon passage o:' same become Ordinance No. D--72-5, seconded by Bailey, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Bailey,Layton, Shelton,Swetnarr~ and Uulgamott voted aye; Fries absent, said bill was accordingly adad, approved by Mayor Filger and became Ord.
