Board of Aldermen of City of
Riverside, Mo.
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside,
--Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri on July 20, 1971,
at;8:00 p.m. and upon a roll call, aldermen Bailey, Shelton, Swetnam and
Vulgamott present, Fries and Layton absent and Mayor Filger calling said
meeting to order.
Minutes of meeting of July 6, 1971 were read and Treasurer's report
for June, 1971 was read and accepted.
Mr. Gillette requested permission to build a small tool shed on
the side of the Phillip 66 Station on 69 Highway, and he was advised
this would aequire a building kpermit. The matter was discussed and
if Mr. Gillette found the lessee to wanted to pay for the permit, then
he would continue on to build it.
The representative of the sign company inquired with regard to
getting certain specifications for installations of signs in the city
limits, and he was to get information to study and then perhaps
draw up ordiaance.
.Don Jack reported on the riser to be installed on Woodland Road,
where the library building was being built. He reported the riser would be
approximately 30' deep and since there was a man hole between the outlet
store and the library, this would probably be better to put a couple lines
into the manhold. Mr. Jack inquired from the City of Kansas City and they
gave permission to use this manhole. Mr. Jack felt using this manhole
would be adequate to take care of the area that would fall in that
district. He was to study the matter further and bids would be gotten
on this project, using the manhole.
Vulgamott moved that Mr. Jack survey the City Hall Building and
report what should be done in the line of repairs ax~xxs;o~x~, seconded
by Swetnam, the roll was called and all present voted aye; Fries and
Layton absent.
Vulgamott moved that Mr. yak Don Jack be the as~gx Sanitation
inspectmr for Riverside, Shelton, seconded themotion and the roll was
called and all present voted aye; Fries and Layton absent.
The matter of the back stop and the hill behind the back stogy on
the ball diamond was brought up and Mr. Jack looked at the situation,
he stated that to build a bleacher stand out of stone and to fit as
a retaining wall would cost considerably, and the matter would be
studied more and discussed further.

It was suggested to write the State Highway Department for a guide
line to information regarding outdoor advertising signs along their
highways.
Vulgamott moved that Bill No. D-71-12 being bill providing for the
payment of funds out of the general fund of the City of Riverside, Mo.
be placed on its first reading, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was balled
all present voted in favor, Layton and Fries absent; Bill No. D-71-2
was accordingly read.
Vulgamott moved that rules be suspended add Bill No. D-71-12 be
placed nn its second reading, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called
and all present voted in favor, Fries and Layton absent; Bill No. D-71-12
was accordingly read.
Vulgamott moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. D-71-12
be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become ~i~~x
Ordinance No. D-71-12, seconded by Swetnam the roll was called and
all present voted infavor, Fries and Layton absent, said bill was
accordingly read, approved by Mayor Filger and became Ordinance
No . D-71-2 .
Upon motion duly made, seconded and passed meefltmg adjourned.
