E. I. Meyers spoke with re,ard to the ~.neetin with the Hi;hway Co~:~:~ission at Jefferscn Eity on ~a~nb~r15, 1~i70, and thou_ht what world be expected and that anyone who could shculd be there, this was with re ,a rd to requestin 50th Street to re:Main open and not beco~~e a dead end street. ~ ~, Mr. Wilson spot:e with re hard to the suit on Cereto Lane in Tn ~ and wondered if this could not be settled as the .ratter was oin; on for set,~eral years. It appeared that what needed to be done was to pay the person who put in the first part of the street and then pay the others who had bills pendin_; for supplies for the street, after a discussion was had, it developed that this r:~atter should be settled and upon °r:otion by Layton that all the outstandin bills, incl~adin_:; labor, :,aterial, etc. bills for the construction of Ceretc Lane be paid, not to exceed X3400.00, and that all the cases be dis ~!issed aad e~ erytthin. , settled ,~.nder the supervision of Mr. Witt, seconded by Ba~.ey, the roll was called and allpresent voted in favor, Brenner absent. P. K. Gentry's applicatinn for a. house in Indian Hills was approved and per.nit D'c . (017 i;,~>~?ed . Mr. Shear (Han) spoke with re:-;ard to the asphalt plant and stated that he was in operation 38 days in 1!6~, 5G days in 16,. and 13 days th~..zs far in 1_:7G, all ~ hour days, he wanted tc Iz:now if he could operate his plant sore, he had coved out the other aachinery and rnovad ~n new, he stated that the polution people inspected his plnat while in operation and that also t:^is new machinery was approved by the same people who approved the plants si:~ilar in Los An ;eles. The council ad ised that if there were no co !:plaints that it wo~<ld be in order for hip:! to operate. David Brenner inq"ired with re and to property taxes, and wanted to know whether the City was oin to started levinL; property tax. He wanted to know if tree crn;~d without a •iote of the people. He was ad-ised by the co~.ncil that they had nc intention of puttin_, a tax on the people, it was ,ust bro°~-;ht i.~p at one of their ~reetin ;s as ,atter of ccm~eraation, With re.ard to levin~ a tax without the ote of the people, he was advised tY;at they thought a city co~.:ld le~~.~ey a cebtain amount without the vote of the people. Mr. David Brenner and Wilson requested that the City let the people :now before they levied a tax so that they coLad ha:e a ,:eetin_ and discuss the atter. Shelton :no~aed that Nir. Witt check into all the sewer ne otiaticns where the sewers were $nstalled and see whether the people should pay the bills, which should be assessed a,ainst the property o~.arers., seconded by Layton, the roll was called and all present voted in favor, Brenner absent.
