HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-01-06Minutes of Regular Meeting of Board of Bldermen City of Riverside, Missouri A regular mewing of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Riverside, Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, on January 20, 1970 at 8s00 p.m. and upon a roll call, Aldermen Brenner, Layton, Shelton, Swetnam and Young were present, Bailey absent, and Mayor Filger - calling said meeting to order. Minutes of January 6, 1970, were read and accepted as read. Collector's report for month of December, 1969, was read and accepted as read. Mr. Myers spoke with regard to letting the contract for the installation of the pipe beneath Highdrive, and stated that there was Clay and steel pipe and that they come within 10¢ per foot in price, there would be no change in the contract. The new plans for Highdrive can now be worked up, and the contract has to be let by the 15th of February. Upon motion by Layton that Bill No. 206-11 being bill authorizing the a dvertisement for bids for construction of culvert beneath Highdrive, seconded by Shelton, the roll was called and votes were ss followsz Bailey-absent; Brenner, Layton, Shelton, Swetnam and young voted aye, Bill No. 206-11 was accordingly read. Layton moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 206-11 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Bailey-absnet; Brenner, Layton, Shelton, Swetnam, and Young aye; Bill No. 206111 was accordingly read. Layton moved that rules be suspended and bill No. 206-11 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ord. No. 206-11, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Bailey-absent; Brenner, Layton, Shelton, Swetnam, and Young voted aye; Bill No. 206-11 was accordingly read, approved by Mayor Filger and became Ord. No. 206-11. Mr. Dorsey spoke to the council with regard to the proposal he sent the council with regard to his salary for services to the City; and stated since they did not accept that proposal, he has presented another proposal to the council and suggested other ways of conducting a the council meetings, such ashaving an agenda, etc. Layton moved that Bill No. D-80-2 being bill providing for the appropriation of money out of the general fund of the city for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein be placedon its first reading, seconded by Brenner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Bailey-absent; Brenner- Layton, Shelton, Swetnam, and Young voted aye; Bill No. D-70-2 was accordingly read. Minutesof regular meeting of December 1{r, 1969, were read and accepted. Treasurers report formonth of November, 1969, was read and accepted. Shelton moved that the City accept and approve the business license applioations for DiaryQueen and Riverside 66 Service utation on 69 Highway, seconded by Brenner, the roll was called and Brenr_er, L~~yton, Shelton, SRetnam voted aye; Bailey and young absent. Layton moved that the Police Department be authorized to purchase a safe for the sum of $301.00, seconded by Shetton, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Brenner, Shelton, Layton, Swbtnam, aye; Bailey and Young Absent. Brenner moved that Bill No. 87-3-A1 being bill amending the liquor ordinance be placed on its first reading, seconded by Shelton, the roll was called and votes were as followsa Brenner, heyton, Shelton, And Swetnam voted aye; Bailey and Young r-bsent, Bill No. 87-3-A1 was accordingly read, Brenner mosre d that rules be suspended and Bill No. 87-3-A1 be pined on ita second reading, seconded by Shelton, the roll was called and votes were as followsa Brenner, Layton, Shelton, Swetnam voted aye; Bailey and Young absent; Bill No. 87-3-A1 was accordingly read.
