A reg lag meeting of the Board of Aldermen of The City Fo Riverside,
Missouri was held in t e City Hall in Riverside, Missouri, Novemoer L}.,
1969, at 8:00 p.m, and u!?on a roll call, aldermen Brenner, Shelton,
Swetnam, and Young were pr-.sent, Bailey and Layton, a~~sent and
Mayor Filger calling; said meeting to order.
P~inutes of r:gular meeting of October 21, 1~;6~, were read and
accepted as read,
Collector's re.~ort for month of October was read and accepted.
Mr. Rapp of the .Parkville iioli3nteer Fire Department was present
and asked the City about getting more volunteer firemen from this
area, and the other matter we_s whether Riverside, actually wanted
the lire truck in the City Hall, as seemed after talt;ing to some
people that they were unhappy, Riverside council advised theyhad
not heard of anyone bein-; unhappy and the; still wanted ther'ire
Truck in the City of Riverside. Witi;. reg-~rd to more vou~{inteer
firemen, the fire volunteers were t o have a meeting Thursday
and this matter would be discussed at that time.
M8. Myers spoke to the Co ncil that he has prepared a contract
with Mr, Vaughn of the `r~~.in Drive-In Theatre and stated this was
also to be hone with the a:p~~roval of the City. Fie fat ed Mr, Vaughn
wants him to work out the problem and he would do so with the
City's approval and the matter would be worked out considering
the City's welfare and interest first.... the matter w <as discussed
zurther and the Council stated that it was the agreement with
the City and the owner of the drive-in, when they asked for rezoning
that they would build. apartments when time came on their westerly
most pro_~erty wizich wouJ_d act as a Buffer for t he t~.~eatre ;ind
be along; the Interstate Highway. Mr. Vaughn stated that the~v"•as
still room for the apartment ;project.
Swetnam moved shat the City Council give Mr. Myers authorization
to proceed on plans and spec ifica%ions to solve the drains.ge problem
of the Drive In Theatre in a ccordance wit'. the agreement submitted
to the Co ncil,f or their approval, seconded by Shelton, the roll
was called and votes were as follows: Bailey--absent Layton-absnet
and Brenner, Shelton, Swetnam and Young. voted aye.
A group of people were nres~~nt wanted to know what was ~~~ing to
be done aoout Till son Lane as it was not passable due the constructi-n
of the Highway work, and it w as agreed that Mr. M~~rs and the counc_l
would talky to the Highway llepar tment requesting tr,:s be worked out.
