A regular meting of the Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside,
Missouri was held in the City Hall in Riverside, on January2l, 196y,
at 8:00 p.m. and upon a roll call, Brenner, Layton, Shelton, Swetnam
and Young were present, Bailey, absent, and Mayor Filger calling said
meeting to order.
Minutes for Jan. 7, ly6y, were read and accepted.
Collector's report for December, 1y68, was read and accepted.
Mrs. Kerns brought a letter regarding their request for another
copy of the liquor license and she was advised when they were ready
to open, then she should request the license.
Fire Chief Rapp of the Parkville Volunteer Fire Association spoke
to the Council and then turned the matter over to Mr. Blue who
advised that the Volunteer Fire Assoc. were anticipating putting a
pumper truck in Riverside City fall aid advised the cost of same, he
stated out of the 141 calls last year, 34~ were within Riverside,
would like some assistance frnm Riverside, he stated he has some men
ready to volunteer and stated that an approximate cost of equipment
before starting would be 2-1j2 " hose 400 feet, approx. $1200.00
(3.00 per ft.) ~0 feet of 12" booster hose, approximate $300.00
(these come in 50 ft sections) an estimate of maintenance on the
pumper, $300.00 - Purchase of personnel equipment for volunteers
helmets boots, etc. from $350.00 to $00.00, depends on number of men.
Then there would be the cost of gasoline and other expense on the
truck, approximately $150 to $175.00 per year. All total about $2300.00
per year. There would be insurance also to take into consideration.
Mayor Filger appointed a committee, Young, Shelton and Swetnam to investigatf
the matter of collecting the fees from residents and businesses in
Riverside.
Brenner moved that rule be suspended and Bill 3Y3/6 authorizing
Acting City Attorney to institute suits on unpaid sewer service charges,
be placed on its first reading, seconded by Shelton, the roll was called
and votes were as follows: Bailey-absent;Brenner-aye;Layt~-aye;Shelton-aye;
Swetnam-aye; Young-aye; Bill 3~3/~ was accordingly read.
Swetnam moved that rules be suspended and said Biller/~be placed on its
second read~g, seconded by Layton, the roll was called and votes were as
follows: Bailey-absent;Brenner-aye;Layton-aye;Shelton-aye;Swetnam-aye;
Young-aye; Bilk Nom/was accordingly read. ~
Young moved that rules be suspended and Bill ~No 3y}~/be placed on its
third reading and upon passage of same become Ord. No. seconded by Shelton,
the roll was caked and votes were as follows:Bailey-absent;Brenner-aye
Bayton-aye;Shelton-aye;Swethan-aye;Young-aye;Bill 3y3-/cwas accordingly read
approved by Mayor Filger and became Ord. No3v3/.
Brenner moved that Bi11~~3/y b~ing bill approving plans and specificatic
ns for the construction of sartr~ wewer lines in sewer District No. y,~
seconded by Shelton, the roll was called and votes were as follows:Bai~ey-

Swetnam moved that rules be suspended adn Bill No 3v3-i? be placed on
its second reading, seconded by Layton, the roll was called and votes were

Layton moved that Bill No. D-69-2 being bill providing for the
appropriation of money out of the general fund of the City of Riverside,
Missouri for the payment of certain indebtedness as listed therein be
placed on its first reading, seconded by Shelton, the roll was called and
votes were as follows:Bailey-absent; Brenner-aye;~ayton-aye;Shelton-aye
Swetnam-aye;Young-aye; Bill No. D-69-2 was accordingly read.~~~x~~~~x~~x

Swetnam moved that rules be suspended and Bill No.D-69-2nbe Qlaced
on its second reading, secnded by Layton, the roll was called and votes

Swetnam-aye;Young-aye; Bill No. D-69-2 was accordingly read.
Shelton moved that axles be suspended and Bill No. D-69-2 be placed
on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ord. N._. D-69-2,
seconded by Swetnam, the rollwas called__and votes were as follows:
Bailey-absent; Brenner-aye;Layton-aye;S~elton-aye;Swetnam-aye;Ycung-aye;
Bill No. D-69-2 was accordingly read, approved by Mayor Filger and
became Ord. No. D-69-2.
