HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-06-04Minutes of Regular meeting of Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside, Missouri June !~, 1968 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen :; f City o8 Riverside, Missouri, held in the City of Riverside, Missoui, at 13;00 p.m. on June !}, 1968, and upon a roll call, aldermen Bailey, Brenner; Layton, Shelton and Young present, Swetnam,absent; and Mayor Filer calling said meeting to order. Minutes of regular m=;eting of N:ay 21, 1968 were read and Young moved that the minutes of pre~isna meeting of May 7, 1,68 be dispensed with the reading thereof until next meetings seconded by Layton, the roll was called and was una~aimously passed. Collectors s report f or month of May, 1968, w a s read and a ecepted; Treasurer's report for month of ~;pril, 1968, was read and accepted. N. Net7[son presented apc~lieati ~n for building a tool house or garage and same was granted on temporary basis, as same was onlya temporary bui~-ding. With regard to Mr. B. P. Niles applicatic~ for serving licuor at his place of business, the F'ondoo Pot, his applic~tionwas ar~eroved subject to his blacktoping the paring area and he said he would black top the partfY~on ing on U.S. Highwy 71 as well as that on the north of his building, and also the license would be a?,proved ~nbject to the a~proval of the State. The bids for the paving of Cerrito Lane in Seven Gaks Addition were opened and read as follows on the overall total of work to be performed: Seal 0-M~tic X5,541.35 and Booth ~~sphalt Co. X6.619.1}0. If the lowest bid is-ccepted, Miry Myers st<ted he would like that it be sta`:ed in the contract that it would be inc~der to h^ve core test m^de to see if the road has the full dept of compab~ion and rock as well as blacktoping, and Dorsey to draw up the contract or agreement how the construction of the road is to be paid. Mr. Myers advised that I~!r. It was reported at the Councilts hearing on the rezoning of certain property requested by the Scavuzzos that the length o f ®~me along ffi.S. 71 highway which is anx-~ro imately 250 feet, be rezoned from its present zoning of C, to D, which would include retail business this area would go to the north edge of the Scavuzzo¢~s grope rty 1 ine -- along s-id Highway, and thecouncil~ pnroved same after motion was made by Shelton and sec nded by Layton, and votes were as follows Bailey- aye; Brenner-aye; Layton-aye; Shelton-aye; Swetnam-absent; and Young-aye; PCr. !?arney then asked the Council if they would hive any objection to h' s plans of b : ild ir.g a build ing, a s s%D wn on the print he had and also a nlsce further in the ~;ack for his machinery; also he s#ated Pa~>.e 2, I'!inutes of Reg. The Mayor and Council expressed their op.nions end it was discussed that the City felt the road should be 501 end before tt4:,~~rould aprrove of any buildings, they requested that a 501 right of way be made on 50th Street. Mr. Edmonds inquired with regard to his road to the Gr=en's Terrace frailer park be repaired, and he was advised that this matter was being looked Gs the drainage matter hid to b e solved. Layton moved that Fill No. D-bu-7-l being bi_11 providing for the appropriation of money out of the General find of the City of Riverside, Irissouri for the payment of certain indebetednesses as listed therein be placed on its first reading, seconded by renner, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Bailey-aye; Brenner-aye; Layton-aye; Shelton aye; Swetnam-absent; Young-aye; Bi11No. D-68-11 was accordingly read. D-6~3-11, seconded by Sheltons the roll-was celled and votes were as follows: Bailey-aye; Brenner-aye; Shelton-aye; Layton-aye; Swetnam-absent; =oung-aye; Bill P;o.
