HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-09-05P~Iinutes of negular Meeting of Board of Aldereen of City of Riverside, Missouri A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside Missouri was held in the City :call in Riverside, Missouri on September >, 1967, at 7:30 ]?•m. and upon a Roll Call, aldermen Layton, Shelton, Swetnam and Young were present, Clark absent for roll call and reading of minutes and present re mainder of meeting. Said meeting was called to order by T-~azTor Filger. T°Tinutes of August 15, 1967, were read and accepted. Collectorts report for six-month period ending June 30, 1967 was read and report for P~onth of August 1967 were read and accepted. TreasurerTS report for month of July was read and accepted. Mr. McKeon inquired whether the City of Riverside would look into the matter of changing their liquor ordinance, or amending same to co-ordinat same with the State Liquor sta,f;utes, namely being open longer hours on Sunday morning -- places dispensing liquor shall be closed between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on week days and between the hours of 1:30 a.m. Sunday and 6:00 a.m. TIonday or after 1:30 am. upon thecb y of any ;r.eneral special or primary election -- as more fully ;;et out in house Bill No. 95, also 1`lr. McKeon stated he thought the state has also passed another Act where~gy such establishments could stay open on Sunday when P?ew Yearns eve fell on Sunday. :fie would also like to look into that amendment and see if the City could amend its ordinance inaccordance there- with. The I~!a~ror and Council advised that this matter would be taken up with At~'ney Dorsey and we will get his opinion or amendments, which-ever he recommends. i Pair. A,~delman of Southtiaestern tell telephone company spoke with _regard to the small increase in telephone bill and that they were showing the City 'rax separate on the bill as do the other utilities. Swetnam moved that a letter be trritten to the Missouri Cities °:~ater company, Mexico, Missouri, notifying them that a large Troup of residents in riverside, T=~issouri, were without water from 5:00 Laborday morning ?until 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening and when they called the ~arkville office the~* were notified th^t met pntosthera smallting a~ 10:00 a.m. and it took until 7:00 p.m. to dribble of t~.*ater and request that a pump be inst~led at the,,,~foot of the hill on ~iigh drive; and that we have had trouble in the past similar to this and have notified the personnel in Parrkville and nothing has -bean dope. ti'lould also like some action on this account of fire protection and other hazards seconded by Layton, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; 'Eskridge-absent; Layton-ayey Shelton-aye; ~wotnam-aye; and Young-a;re. Officer Seneke r requested permission to hire a third full time police man, and upon moti n by Layton that Gary ;iohimer be er~ployed as soon as he is relieved from his fob at present and at the rate of ~l~25.00 per month, ~s~p2s~ and that Hobert T•icKiddy be err;ployed as dispatcher, seconded by Swetnam, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Clark-aye; Eskridge-absent; Layton-aye; Swetnam-afire; Shelton-aye; noun;-aye. Young moved that w e contact Dorsey and see if he can draw up an ordinance whereby the City has control of trucks ha~,ling overloads and same damaging the streets; and some means of collecting for such damage, seconded by Shelton, the roll was called and votes z,~eta as fol7.ows: Clark-aye; Eskridge-absent; Layton-aye; Shelton-aye; Swetnam-aye; Young-aye. Swetnam moved that wea ccept Dooth~s bids on street work done on the following roads, -- Karen Road, patch only 9~10~?.00, Osage and Valley ll}9.16 and 5~1~23.1}7 and Cherokee Land ~20L}.93, seconded by Young, the roll was cal7.ed and votes wore as follot~rs: Clark-aye/ Eskridge-absent; Shelton-aye; Layton-a~*e; Swetnam-aye; Young-aye; rii.nutes of Reg.
