HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-01-17T Minutes of Regular Meeting of Board of Aldermen of City of Riverside January 17, 1967 A regular meeting of the Boa~}d of Aldermen of City of Riverside, Missou: was held in the City hall in Riverside, Missouri on January 17, 1967, 7:30pi and upon a roll call Aldermen Eskridge, Layton, Swetnam and Young were present, Clark and Brenner absent and Mayor Filger calling said meeting to order. Minutes of regular meeting of Januar 3, 1967 were read and accepted as read. Treasurer's report for month of December, 1966, was read and accepted. Mrs. Filger spoke for a group of people from Indian Hills Addidition requesting that more lights be installed on the streets in their additinn, and it was deciede that this matter would be discussed and then at the next meeting the representative of the light company would ocme to the meeting and see where lights would be recommended thoughtout the city. Another matter which was brought up was to have something put on the roads when they are slick from ice and snow, and this matter was to be taken care of, by way of letting the person who puts the gravel and salt and grades the road in advance and ,just have a standing order with them. Mr. Knapp again inquitd regarding his building a business building in Riverside, Missouri his building would be approximately 192 x 150, and the place he advised the building would be was in zone, and there appeared to be po problems. The building would be a Butler Mfg. Building. Mr. Benedict (Donald) BA 1-1600, ex 222 of the U. S. Post Office spoke to the council, advising them it would save a lot of trouble if when a new addition is planned that the people would come to the City regarding the names of the streets as there are some duplicatins and these cause much mix-ups in the mails, he also stated if the City at any time needed help, to call him and he would certainly try to help or get someone else that would be able to solve our problems. Another person to contact at the Post Office would be Mr. John Higgenbothan of the Traffic Department, with the same telephone number as his. Mayor Filger appointed a Police Committee, same being E. H. Young D. L. SHelton and M. Layton. a bill providing for the Ordinance No. 361, being oaatitaa~ accept~ng:af certain p®rtion of property as a City Street in Riverside, was placed on its first reading by Swetnam and seconded by Layton, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Brenner-absent; Clark-absent; Eskridge-aye; Layton-aye; Swetnam-aye; Young-aye; and Bill No. 361 was accordingly read. Layton moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 361 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Eskridge, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Brenner-absent; Clark-absent; Eskridge-aye; Layton-aye Swetnam-aye; Young-aye; Bill No. 361 was accordingly read. Swetnam moved that rules be suspended and Bill No. 361 be placed on its third reading and upon passage of same become Ord. No. 361, seconded by Eskridge, the roll was called and votes were as follows: Brenner-absent; Clark-absent; Eskridge-aye; Layton-aye; Swetnam-aye Young-aye; Bill No. 361 was accordingly read, approved by Mayor Filger and became Ord.
